The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max share the A16 Bionic chip and Apple’s listed Pro camera system. The main differences are size and Apple’s video-playback rating: the Pro has a 6.1-inch display and is rated for up to 23 hours, while the Pro Max has a 6.7-inch display and is rated for up to 29 hours. In Canada, the Pro Max cost CAD $150 more at launch in September 2022.

Apple’s specifications list the same chip and Pro camera system for both phones, so the evidence here does not establish a camera advantage for either model. Their clearest hardware distinction is the screen size. The Pro Max offers a larger viewing area; the Pro is the more compact option. Which size feels better to hold or carry is a personal preference.
How much more did the Pro Max cost at launch?
Apple’s September 7, 2022 Canadian launch announcement listed the iPhone 14 Pro at CAD $1,399 and the iPhone 14 Pro Max at CAD $1,549 before trade-in—a CAD $150 difference. What the playback ratings mean
Apple rates the iPhone 14 Pro for up to 23 hours of video playback and the Pro Max for up to 29 hours. These are manufacturer ratings, not guaranteed runtime for every owner: Apple says actual results vary with use, settings, and network conditions. The Pro Max has the higher stated rating, but day-to-day battery life depends on how the phone is used. Apple’s iPhone comparison

Which model should you choose?
- Choose iPhone 14 Pro if you prefer a 6.1-inch screen and the more compact model.
- Choose iPhone 14 Pro Max if you want a 6.7-inch screen or place more weight on Apple’s higher video-playback rating.
Both launched in 2022 with the A16 Bionic chip and the same listed Pro camera system. The choice is therefore less about a different camera or chip and more about the screen size, playback rating, and price you find for a particular phone.
Box contents and charging
Apple lists a USB-C to Lightning cable in the box, but no power adapter. Its fast-charging note specifies a 20W-or-higher adapter sold separately; you may not need to buy one if you already have a compatible adapter. Apple iPhone 14 Pro technical specifications
