When did iOS 26.2 come out?
Apple lists December 12, 2025, as the release date for iOS 26.2. Apple’s iOS update history lists releases newer than 26.2, so this is a retrospective on that update, not an announcement that it is newly available.

Which iPhones support iOS 26.2?
Apple’s iOS 26.2 security notice names iPhone 11 and later as supported. That boundary should not be taken to include older iPhones. The notice also covers iPads, but those models are outside this iPhone-focused compatibility answer.
What changed in iOS 26.2?
Apple’s iOS 26 update notes describe changes across several built-in apps and features. Availability may vary by region and iPhone model, so the feature list is not a guarantee that every item applies to every user.

- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
Apple Music and Podcasts
- Apple Music’s Top Picks includes a Favourite Songs playlist.
- Downloaded songs can show lyrics offline.
- Podcasts can generate chapters automatically, and links to mentioned podcasts appear in the player and transcript.
Games and connected controllers
- The Games app adds library filters and live banners showing challenge scores.
- Apple says support improved for connected controllers, including those from Backbone and Razer. A controller is optional; it is not needed to install the update.
Lock Screen, Reminders, and AirDrop
- The Lock Screen gains an option to adjust the opacity of the Liquid Glass clock.
- Urgent Reminders can trigger alarms and support snoozing and Live Activities.
- AirDrop can use verification codes for transfers involving people who are not in your contacts.
Other app and accessibility changes
- Apple News adds links to topics.
- Home accessories sold in multipacks can be paired using a shared setup code.
- Accessibility settings can use a screen flash as an alert.
- Freeform adds support for tables.
Apple also lists fixes for an issue that could prevent pre-release music from playing immediately when it became available, and for an incorrectly managed Privacy and Security setting.
What security fixes did the update include?
Apple’s security notice documents fixes affecting components including the App Store, FaceTime, Foundation, Kernel, Messages, Photos, Screen Time, and WebKit. Some entries on the notice were added or updated after December 12, 2025, so the page should not be read as a list of details all published on launch day. Apple’s advisory is the source for the affected components and issue descriptions; it does not support treating every listed entry as a newly disclosed flaw on the release date.
