The Ionmax ION630 is a 10 L/day desiccant dehumidifier for damp, cool rooms, with a 4.2 L tank, a stated coverage of 42 m², and a humidity target you can set from 40% to 60%. Its manufacturer specifications are clear and consistent across the sources checked. Independent performance and noise measurements were not available, and consumer reviews are split on noise. For a cool, damp room where noise is acceptable at the setting you need, it is a reasonable model to shortlist. For a warm room or one where quiet operation matters most, check the evidence more closely before buying.

Controls and humidity settings
While the unit runs, the display shows the room’s current relative humidity. When you change the target, the selected value appears briefly. Targets move in 5-point steps from 40% to 60%. The modes are Auto, Low, High and Laundry/continuous. The manual describes the humidity targets as follows:

These are the manufacturer’s guidance. The manual does not promise mould prevention or health outcomes, and neither does this review.
Placement and drainage
Stand the unit upright on a flat surface and keep its airflow unobstructed. Ionmax advises against confined spaces, dusty or industrial environments, and positions near heat sources. For moisture that moves between rooms, the manual suggests a central spot such as a hallway or landing, with internal doors open. This is placement advice, not a guarantee that one unit will control every room in a house.
Water collects in the 4.2 L tank. When it is full, the indicator lights and the unit stops after a short interval. For continuous operation, the manual allows drainage through a hose with a 12 mm inner diameter. Route the hose downhill to a suitable drain, avoid sharp bends, and confirm the tank is correctly seated, because a poorly seated tank can stop the unit from draining.
Noise
Ionmax lists 35 dB on low and 46 dB on high. These numbers are useful for comparing settings on the same unit, but the sources checked do not say how or where they were measured, so they are not a like-for-like comparison with other brands.

Consumer reviews are less reassuring. ProductReview excerpts praise the moisture collection but include complaints about noise. Those reviews are self-selected, so they show that noise bothers some owners, not how loud the unit is in a typical room. If noise is a concern, test the lower-output settings first, since the manual associates the 60% target with quieter operation.
Running cost
The rated input of 420–740 W is the only power figure available. Actual cost depends on your runtime, the humidity setting, and your electricity tariff. A simple way to estimate it is: kWh = watts × hours ÷ 1,000. For example, 420 W running for one hour uses 0.42 kWh. Multiply that by your local tariff and by the hours you expect to run it. No independent running-cost figure was available.
After you switch it off
The fan keeps running for about two minutes after shutdown. The manual states:
“After turning the appliance OFF using the ON/OFF button, the fan will continue to run for a two minute period. This is a normal procedure and helps to cool and protect the internal components.”

Filter cleaning
The manual recommends cleaning the filter at least once a month. Follow these steps:
- Turn the unit off and wait for the fan to stop.
- Unplug the unit from the power outlet.
- Remove the filter.
- Clean it gently with a smooth vacuum attachment. Do not use a rotating brush.
- Alternatively, wash the filter and let it dry thoroughly before refitting it.
Never run the unit without its filter. The manual warns that dust build-up can cause malfunction and overheating.

- Store the unit upright in a cool, dry place.
Desiccant, replacement parts and accessories
Ionmax describes the zeolite desiccant as self-regenerating and says it does not need replacing. That is a manufacturer claim. The sources checked do not independently establish how long the desiccant lasts or what replacement would cost over time. Routine maintenance means cleaning the filter, not buying replacements.
Ionmax lists an ION630 filter bundle, but the sources checked do not identify its contents or confirm compatibility. Check both before buying. A continuous-drain hose with a 12 mm inner diameter is the other accessory the manual refers to.

CHOICE has a model-specific listing for the ION630. Its visible fields include the claimed specifications, but the expert rating and detailed test results are for members only, so this review does not report them.
ProductReview’s search listing showed an average of 4.6 from 103 reviews when checked. Those reviews are customer opinions, not controlled tests, so use them to understand owner experience rather than to judge measured performance.

How to compare it with other models
When you compare the ION630 with another dehumidifier, use the same criteria for each:
- Dehumidifier type: desiccant or compressor, and how each performs in cool rooms.
- Moisture removal measured independently under comparable conditions.
- Noise measured at comparable settings.
- Running cost under your local tariff.
- Tank size and drainage options.
- Stated room size.
- Controls, timer and warranty.
- Availability of filters and parts.
Ionmax’s product page also describes the ION632 as a 10 L/day desiccant model, with a different tank, timer, noise claim and form factor. This review does not compare the two models, since the ION632’s full specifications and independent data were not checked here.

Who the ION630 suits
- Cool or damp rooms up to the stated 42 m² coverage, where a desiccant design is the type you want.
- Owners who can place the unit centrally, keep it upright and unobstructed, and clean the filter monthly.
- Buyers who accept the manufacturer’s figures as specifications and who will judge the noise level in their own room.
It is a weaker fit if you need independently verified moisture-removal or noise figures, a precise running-cost estimate, or a single unit to dry an entire home.
