Intel’s reported Santa Clara layoff notice covered about 107 employees, with separations expected to begin July 15, 2025. The notice listed engineering, cloud-software, management, IT, business, and project roles. This is a report about 2025 events—not evidence of a new Intel layoff announcement in 2026.

What Intel’s Santa Clara notice said

CRN reported that a California notice covered roughly 107 employees connected to Intel’s Santa Clara headquarters, with layoffs expected to begin July 15, 2025. That date was the notice’s expected start date; it does not establish that every separation occurred on that day. The notice is specific to this group and should not be treated as a total for Intel-wide reductions. CRN’s report did not expose an exact publication date in the page text reviewed.

Which roles were listed?

CRN reported the following job titles and counts in connection with the notice. The list is partial, not a complete inventory of Intel’s reductions.

CRN also said affected employees had either received 60 days’ notice or a four-week notice accompanied by nine weeks of pay and benefits in lieu of further notice. Those terms describe the notice arrangements in CRN’s account; they should not be assumed to apply to other Intel employees.

Why Intel said it was reducing its workforce

In an April 24, 2025, message to employees, CEO Lip-Bu Tan said workforce reductions would begin in the second quarter and proceed as quickly as possible over the following months. He described the changes as part of simplifying Intel’s organization, removing layers, reducing costs, giving engineers more authority, and retaining key talent. In that message, Tan wrote: “There is no way around the fact that these critical changes will reduce the size of our workforce.” He also said, “I’m a big believer in the philosophy that the best leaders get the most done with the fewest people.” Intel’s April 24 employee message is the primary source for his stated rationale and remarks.

How the manufacturing and company-wide figures differ

The Santa Clara notice is not interchangeable with broader figures reported about Intel’s plans. CRN separately cited a report based on an internal memo that Intel planned to cut 15% to 20% of workers in its chip-manufacturing division. That percentage refers to a separate reported plan—not the roughly 107 people in the California notice—and CRN did not establish it as a confirmed final total.

For wider company context, The Associated Press reported on July 24, 2025, that Intel planned to end the year with 75,000 core employees, excluding subsidiaries, through layoffs and attrition. AP compared that plan with 99,500 core employees at the end of 2024. These figures describe the broader workforce plan, not the Santa Clara notice. The AP report provides that company-wide context.

Does this report mean Intel is laying off workers in 2026?

No. The notice and statements discussed here concern events and plans reported in 2025. They do not substantiate a new 2026 layoff announcement. The roughly 107 figure applies only to the Santa Clara-linked California notice, while the other figures describe separate reported workforce plans with different scopes.
