Panther Lake is Intel’s codename for Core Ultra series 3, a client processor platform Intel says is built on its Intel 18A process. Intel’s October 2025 announcement emphasized AI capabilities and efficiency, and forecast up to 40% lower power at similar single-thread performance than Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake-H. Those are Intel-reported estimates—not independent laptop test results or a guarantee for every system.

What is Intel Panther Lake?

Panther Lake is the codename for Intel Core Ultra series 3 client processors. Intel described it as its first client system-on-chip (SoC) built on Intel 18A, and positioned it for consumer and commercial AI PCs, gaming devices, and edge solutions. Intel also said Panther Lake products were being manufactured at Fab 52 in Chandler, Arizona. Intel’s October 9, 2025 announcement names RibbonFET transistor architecture and Foveros advanced packaging and 3D stacking as parts of the platform’s design. These are Intel’s descriptions of its technologies, not independent validation of performance.

How much more efficient and powerful does Intel say it is?

Intel’s October 2025 figures describe comparisons with earlier platforms, under specific test conditions. They are vendor claims, not results from independent testing of retail laptops. Intel cautions that results vary.

Intel-reported claim Comparison and qualification
Up to 40% lower power at similar single-thread performance Versus Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake-H. Intel’s infographic dates this estimate to September 2025 and references SPECrate 2017 integer base for the CPU estimate.
Up to 50% more multithread performance at similar power Versus Lunar Lake; Intel cites SPECrate 2017 integer base and notes results may vary.
Up to 50% better CPU performance and GPU performance Intel’s October 2025 overview and infographic report this headline figure; the overview does not specify a single comparison condition for this claim.
Up to 50% more Xe3 performance Versus Lunar Lake; Intel says it measured Panther Lake, Lunar Lake, and Arrow Lake-H reference validation platforms using 3DMark Solar Bay, Cyberpunk 2077, and Borderlands 3.

These percentages should not be read as universal improvements across every task or laptop. A finished system’s performance and battery life also depend on its processor and graphics configuration, memory, cooling, power settings, battery capacity, and other design choices. Intel’s figures are available in its Panther Lake overview and October 2025 infographic.

What AI capabilities and TOPS does Panther Lake offer?

Intel’s October 2025 materials report support for more than 900 AI models, 500 AI features, and more than 350 ISVs supporting AI development. Intel says up to 180 platform TOPS are available for AI workloads, based on product specification.

TOPS describes a platform-level throughput figure; it does not by itself predict how fast a particular AI model will run, whether it will run locally, or what a user will experience. Actual capability depends on the software, workload, and system configuration. Intel points readers to its performance index and product specifications for further qualification.

What should buyers compare in Panther Lake laptops?

Do not choose a laptop based on a processor announcement or a platform-level figure alone. When comparing named Core Ultra series 3 systems, look at the complete configurations and independent tests relevant to your workloads:
