Intel’s available documentation does not verify a firmware updater or a latest firmware version for the exact Intel SSD DC P3605. Firmware listed for the related P3700, P3600, or P3500 models is not evidence that it applies to a P3605. Confirm your drive’s exact model and installed firmware, and use an update package only if Intel or your system’s OEM explicitly names the P3605.
What Intel’s documentation confirms—and what it doesn’t
Intel’s March 2019 Data Center Tool release notes describe a February 2017 release with firmware 8DV101H0 and bootloader 8B1B0133 for the Intel SSD DC P3700, P3600, and P3500 families. The notes do not name the P3605.
A separate Intel product change notice dated March 20, 2015 says firmware for the P3700 and P3600 was updated from 8DV10110 to 8DV10131, with bootloader revisions changing from 8B1B0129 to 8B1B012E. It also says the new version cannot be downgraded. This is historical information for the named P3700 and P3600 models—not a P3605 update notice.
Intel’s Data Center Tool guide documents firmware inspection and a load command for supported SSDs, with P3700 and P3600 examples. Those examples do not establish that the tool or command supports the P3605.

Intel’s separately named SSD Firmware Update Tool is an ISO utility for Optane memory and Optane SSD models identified in its release notes; the cited material does not establish P3605 support. Intel says the utility reached end of life, and functional, security, and firmware updates for Optane SSDs stopped after March 31, 2025. Do not treat that Optane-oriented tool as a P3605 updater.
Identify the exact drive and installed firmware
Before looking for an update, record the full model or product code and current firmware revision. Similar model names are not interchangeable: a package for a P3600, P3700, P3608, or P3500 should not be assumed to work on a P3605.

Intel’s firmware identification guidance says Windows users can inspect firmware in Intel Memory and Storage Tool. For Linux, it describes hdparm -i for ATA drives and notes that NVMe devices need another suitable method. This guidance helps identify firmware; it does not confirm that the tool updates a P3605.

- Verify the device: check the model/product code and installed firmware using your operating system’s device information or a suitable identification utility.
- Back up important data: do this before any firmware operation. Intel’s general Firmware Update Tool instructions advise backing up the drive, disabling drive password protection, and ensuring reliable system power. Intel warns that an interrupted update may leave an SSD unable to function.
- Check package compatibility: proceed only if an Intel or OEM instruction explicitly lists your exact P3605 model and the firmware package. Confirm its prerequisites and supported tool or operating system in that package’s own instructions.
- Follow the package’s instructions: do not substitute commands or firmware intended for another Intel SSD family. If no model-specific package or instruction is available, do not attempt the update.
Intel’s general tool guidance is a safety warning, not proof that its Optane-oriented update utility supports the P3605. The available documentation does not establish a P3605-specific update path or recovery procedure.
