Intel Core Ultra 200V is the company’s mobile Lunar Lake processor family, introduced in September 2024 for AI-focused laptops, especially thin-and-light designs. It combines eight CPU cores, integrated Arc graphics and a neural processing unit (NPU). Intel advertises up to 120 platform TOPS and up to 20 hours of productivity battery life, but those are qualified Intel figures—not guarantees for every laptop. For buyers, the exact laptop configuration and independent system tests matter as much as the processor name.
What is Intel Core Ultra 200V?
Core Ultra 200V is Intel’s mobile processor family codenamed Lunar Lake. Intel announced it on September 3, 2024, ahead of IFA Berlin, positioning it for AI PCs and portable systems, including thin-and-light laptops and tablet-like fanless designs. It is part of Intel’s Core Ultra Series 2 mobile lineup; it is distinct from the desktop Core Ultra 200S family and the separate 200H, 200U and 200HX mobile segments. Intel’s launch overview is at Intel’s Core Ultra Series 2 launch announcement, and its datasheet index distinguishes the processor segments at Intel Support’s processor datasheet index.
The family comprises nine listed models. Every one has four Performance-cores (P-cores) and four low-power Efficient-cores (E-cores), for eight cores and eight threads, according to Intel’s mobile Series 2 product brief. The maximum turbo frequencies below are specification ceilings, not promises of sustained operating speed in a particular laptop.

|---|---|---|
| Core Ultra 9 288V | Up to 5.1 GHz | 12 MB |
| Core Ultra 7 268V and 266V | Up to 5.0 GHz | 12 MB |
| Core Ultra 7 258V and 256V | Up to 4.8 GHz | 12 MB |
| Core Ultra 5 238V and 236V | Up to 4.7 GHz | 8 MB |
| Core Ultra 5 228V and 226V | Up to 4.5 GHz | 8 MB |
Figures are from Intel’s Core Ultra Series 2 mobile product brief. Intel groups some models in the table because they share the listed maximum frequency and cache figures.

How the CPU, GPU and NPU fit together
CPU: P-cores and low-power E-cores
Intel describes the P-cores as rearchitected for demanding work and the E-cores as low-power cores for lighter tasks. In an engineering article, Intel says the design goal was to finish work quickly and return the processor to low-power states, routing lighter work to E-cores where possible and heavier work to P-cores. That explains Intel’s design intent; it does not establish how a specific workload will behave in every laptop.
GPU: integrated Arc graphics
Depending on the processor, Core Ultra 200V uses Intel Arc 140V or Arc 130V integrated graphics. Intel’s brief lists up to eight second-generation Xe-cores, ray-tracing units and support for up to three 4K displays, subject to system capabilities. Arc graphics availability and capability depend on the selected processor, minimum processor power and laptop-maker enablement, so the family name alone does not guarantee a particular graphics configuration.
NPU and combined AI compute
The fourth-generation NPU is intended for sustained AI workloads at lower power, while the CPU and GPU also contribute to the platform’s AI compute. Intel’s “up to 120 TOPS” figure is for combined CPU, GPU and NPU platform performance, not the NPU alone. Intel separately lists up to 67 TOPS for the integrated Arc GPU. TOPS describes theoretical AI-processing throughput; a higher number by itself does not predict how quickly a particular app will run, since software support and which processor engine is used also matter.

The product brief lists LPDDR5X-8533 memory, with on-package capacity of up to 32 GB in some configurations and 16 GB in others. Because the memory is mounted on the processor package, the laptop maker’s chosen configuration determines what the buyer receives; do not assume the memory can be upgraded later. The brief also lists integrated Thunderbolt 4 and Wi-Fi 7 support, but the ports and wireless configuration of a finished laptop still depend on its manufacturer.
Compare complete laptop model numbers, not just processor tiers. Intel’s launch press kit names Acer, ASUS, Dell Technologies, HP, Lenovo and LG among partners and includes launch-event examples such as a Dell XPS 13. These are launch-era examples, not confirmation of current availability or any particular retail configuration. The Intel Core Ultra Series 2 press kit documents those announcements.

How to interpret Intel’s performance and battery claims
Intel’s September 2024 launch materials publish several “up to” figures. They describe Intel’s claims, not independently verified outcomes across all Core Ultra 200V laptops.
| Intel’s published claim | What it refers to |
|---|---|
| Up to 120 total platform TOPS | Combined CPU, GPU and NPU AI throughput—not NPU TOPS alone. |
| Up to 67 TOPS | Integrated Arc GPU AI throughput. |
| Up to 20 hours of battery life | Intel’s claim for productivity use cases; Intel says results vary by use and configuration and directs readers to its performance index for test details. |
| Up to 50% lower package power | A package-power claim, not a claim that the entire laptop uses 50% less energy. |
| Up to 3x performance per thread and up to 80% peak performance uplift | Intel’s launch comparisons with the prior generation. |
| 30% average mobile graphics performance uplift | Intel’s launch claim for average mobile graphics performance. |
These figures are not directly interchangeable. TOPS is an AI-throughput measure; package power covers the processor package rather than the whole system; and battery runtime depends on the laptop, its settings, display and workload. Intel’s launch page says performance varies by use and configuration and links to its performance index and product brief. The Intel sources cited here do not establish a matched, independent comparison against specific AMD-, Qualcomm- or Apple-powered laptops, so they cannot settle which system lasts longer or performs best in a buyer’s chosen workload.

Should you buy a Core Ultra 200V laptop?
Core Ultra 200V is relevant if you are shopping for a portable laptop with integrated graphics and dedicated AI hardware, but the processor tier alone is not a sufficient buying decision. Look for independent reviews of the exact laptop model to assess battery life and performance, then compare its memory, screen, battery, ports and price with other systems you are considering. Current stock and retail configurations change; Intel’s launch materials identify makers and products shown at launch, but do not confirm what is currently for sale.
Intel executive vice president Michelle Johnston Holthaus said at launch that the processors “set the industry standard for mobile AI and graphics performance” and “smash misconceptions about x86 efficiency.” That is a vendor executive’s characterization, not an independent finding. Intel engineer Arik Gihon described the design priority as “The story was efficiency,” in Intel’s account of the engineering work. His statement conveys the team’s stated focus, not a guarantee of a particular laptop’s runtime.
