The Intel 665p 1TB is a PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe drive in the M.2 2280 form factor, built with 96-layer QLC NAND. Intel’s published ratings are up to 2,000 MB/s for sequential reads and writes, but those figures are manufacturer specifications—not independent test results. As an older model, it is best judged by the specific drive’s condition, price, compatibility and support eligibility rather than by historical prices or headline speed alone.
What the Intel 665p 1TB is
Intel’s November 2019 product brief lists the 665p in 1TB and 2TB capacities. The 1TB version is an M.2 2280-S3-M drive using a PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe interface and 96-layer QLC 3D NAND. These are manufacturer specifications, not findings from a particular review test. Intel 665p product brief
QLC is the type of flash memory used to store data. For this drive, its relevance to a buyer is that a maximum sequential-speed rating does not by itself describe performance during a long write. StorageReview describes the 665p as using a dynamic SLC cache, but the available review information here does not establish a sustained-write result after that cache is exhausted. StorageReview’s 1TB review
How fast is it, according to Intel?
Intel’s brief gives these maximum ratings for the 665p family. They are not guaranteed speeds for every workload or independent benchmark measurements of the 1TB model.
#1 Best Overall
- This product has been replaced by our latest generation. Please search for the SANDISK Optimus GX 7100 NVMe SSD
- HIGH-OCTANE GAMING. Experience speeds up to 7,250MB/s read and 6,900MB/s write (1-2TB models), with up to 35% faster performance than previous generation.
- PURPOSE-BUILT. Designed for serious on-the-go gamers, with a PCIe Gen4 interface and SANDISK’s next generation TLC 3D NAND.
- MORE TIME TO CLEAR THAT CHECKPOINT. Built with laptops and handheld gaming devices in mind, with up to 100% more power efficiency over the previous generation.
- DO MORE WITH DASHBOARD. Ensure your drive is optimized for prime performance with the downloadable WD_BLACK Dashboard (Windows only).
| Specification | Intel-published figure | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| Sequential read | Up to 2,000 MB/s | Manufacturer maximum; not a reported real-world result. |
| Sequential write | Up to 2,000 MB/s | Manufacturer maximum; does not establish sustained speed during long writes. |
| 4KB random read IOPS | Up to 250,000 | Manufacturer maximum for random reads. |
| 4KB random write IOPS | Up to 250,000 | Manufacturer maximum for random writes. |
StorageReview and ServeTheHome both published reviews of the 1TB drive, but the available evidence does not provide the detailed test conditions and numerical results needed to reproduce a careful performance comparison or rank it against current drives. Treat the figures above as Intel ratings, not as review measurements. StorageReview review; ServeTheHome review
Endurance, warranty and support
300 TBW is a rated endurance figure
Intel rates the 1TB 665p at 300 TBW in its 2019 product brief. TBW means terabytes written and expresses a rated endurance limit; it is not a prediction that an individual drive will fail as soon as it reaches that amount. Intel explains how to check reliability specifications for its SSDs in its SSD reliability specifications guidance.

- Ideal for high speed, low power storage
- Gen 4x4 NVMe PCle performance
- Up to 6,000MB/s read, 4,000MB/s write
- Includes Acronis cloning software
- 5-year limited warranty
Warranty coverage depends on the particular drive
The same brief lists a five-year limited warranty. That original term alone does not establish how much coverage, if any, remains on a used or older drive. Intel says technical and warranty support for formerly Intel NAND SSD products, including the 665p series, moved to Solidigm on October 3, 2022. Check product-specific eligibility with the current support owner and keep proof of purchase. Intel’s support notice

Check compatibility before buying
The drive’s M.2 2280 dimensions and PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe interface describe what it needs from a host; an M.2 connector that looks similar is not sufficient proof of compatibility.

- SPEED UP PROJECTS. Launch creator applications fast with uncompromising PCIe 4.0 read speeds up to 7,100MB/s,[2] (1TB and 2TB[1] models) and write speeds up to 6,700MB/s[2] (1TB[1]-4TB[1] models).
- CREATE AND STORE MORE. Make more room for your 4K videos and high-resolution images with capacities from 500GB[1] up to 4TB[1] on M.2 2280 built with our trusted 8th generation SANDISK BiCS QLC 3D CBA NAND.
- IT GOES WHERE YOU GO. With an all-new power efficient design, your drive delivers high performance with low power, giving you more time to be productive while on the go.
- UNCOMPROMISED RELIABILITY. With up to 1,200 TBW[3] (4TB[1] model) endurance rating, your drive is designed for creators.
- KEEP YOUR DRIVE UPDATED. Monitor your SSD’s performance and check for updates with the downloadable SANDISK Dashboard application.[5]
- Look up the exact computer or motherboard model in its manual.
- Confirm that the intended M.2 slot supports PCIe NVMe storage, rather than only another M.2 device type.
- Check that the slot accepts the 2280 length and review any stated boot or capacity limitations.

It may make sense if the exact drive is compatible, its condition and seller are trustworthy, and its current price compares favorably with alternatives tested under consistent conditions. A useful comparison should consider sustained writes after any cache is exhausted, usable capacity and price per terabyte, interface and host fit, endurance, warranty, and the seller’s return terms.

The price evidence available for the 665p is historical, not a current quote. StorageReview reported a review-era 1TB price of $130, while Tom’s Hardware covered an $83 sale around 2021; neither figure establishes today’s price or availability.
