InsydeH2O Setup Utility is a computer’s firmware settings screen, not a Windows 10 app. It controls startup options such as boot mode, boot-device priority and, on some systems, Secure Boot. The available settings and exact steps depend on the PC maker, model and firmware version, so use your manufacturer’s documentation before changing them.
What the InsydeH2O Setup Utility does
Firmware setup controls behavior before Windows starts. You might open it to choose a USB drive as a startup device or adjust boot settings. The name InsydeH2O does not mean every computer has the same menus: manufacturers can customize the interface and available options.
For example, the DFI SD101-SD103-Q170 manual documents an InsydeH2O Rev. 5.0 interface with Main, Advanced, Security, Boot and Exit tabs. Its Boot page includes UEFI, Legacy and Dual boot choices, USB Boot and boot-device priority. That is one model’s layout, not a universal map. DFI SD101-SD103-Q170 User’s Manual

The startup key varies by computer. Microsoft lists Esc, Delete, F1, F2, F10, F11 and F12 among commonly used keys, and advises checking the PC manufacturer’s documentation for the right one. If Windows is accessible, the Windows recovery route to UEFI firmware settings may also be available, depending on the computer. Microsoft: Start your PC in safe mode

- Restart the computer and use the specified key or Windows recovery option.
- Once inside, locate the setting you need rather than changing unrelated options.
Menu names, key behavior and available controls differ by system. Avoid hidden-menu tricks or arbitrary firmware changes.
Booting Windows 10 installation or recovery media from USB
To start from USB, the drive must contain correctly prepared bootable Windows media; inserting an ordinary flash drive is not enough. Connect the media, then use the manufacturer’s one-time boot menu or firmware setup to choose its USB entry. If the firmware shows both a UEFI entry and another entry for the same drive, choose the one that matches how the media and PC are configured.

- Prepare Windows installation media using Microsoft’s instructions and connect it to the PC.
- Open the one-time boot menu, if your PC provides one, and select the USB device or its UEFI entry. Otherwise, open firmware setup and look for USB Boot and boot-device priority.
- If you change persistent boot priority, move the USB entry above the internal drive only as needed. A DFI manual, for example, directs users to press F10 to save and restart after changing Boot Type; follow your own manufacturer’s save instructions.
- After installation or repair, remove the USB or restore the normal boot order if the computer keeps starting from the external drive.

- Confirm that the media was created as bootable and is connected before opening the boot menu.
- Check whether USB boot must be enabled in the firmware; the setting may be absent or named differently on your computer.
- Check that the media’s boot mode matches the PC’s UEFI or Legacy configuration. Windows Setup and Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPE) can boot in UEFI or legacy BIOS mode; changing modes without considering the existing installation can stop the installed system from booting. Microsoft: Boot to UEFI mode or legacy BIOS mode
- If you see a signature or security error, verify the media’s source and integrity and consult your PC maker’s instructions. Do not treat disabling Secure Boot or switching to Legacy as a routine fix.
UEFI, Legacy and Dual boot: choose for compatibility
Some firmware implementations offer UEFI, Legacy or Dual boot modes, but the exact choices depend on the system. UEFI and Legacy affect how startup media and the installed operating system boot. A mode change can make an existing Windows installation or USB media incompatible with the selected startup path, so there is no single setting that is best for every Windows 10 PC.

Before changing boot mode, identify the PC model and current firmware mode. Make sure important files are backed up and that any recovery key you may need is available. Use the computer maker’s guidance for the intended operating system and media.
Secure Boot: what it protects and when to investigate an error
Secure Boot helps prevent malicious software from loading during startup by allowing trusted, digitally signed software to run. Microsoft describes it as a security feature, and Insyde’s April 2021 guidance recommends UEFI Secure Boot. The precise controls and defaults still depend on the firmware implementation. Microsoft: Windows 11 and Secure Boot Insyde: UEFI BIOS guidance for Secure Boot

- DDR5 Compatible: 4*DIMMs
- Power Design: 14+2+2
- Thermals: VRM and M.2 Thermal Guard
- Connectivity: PCIe 5.0, 3x M.2 Slots, USB-C, Sensor Panel Link
Do not disable Secure Boot by default to install Windows 10. If a particular device or installer reports a signature problem, the appropriate remedy depends on the PC, media and goal. Verify the installation media first and seek model-specific support rather than weakening startup protection without a clear reason.

Microsoft’s Secure Boot page says certificates originally issued in 2011 begin expiring in June 2026 and that supported Windows versions receive the update automatically. Because this is time-sensitive and the page is titled “Windows 11 and Secure Boot,” check Microsoft’s current guidance and your device maker’s instructions; the page’s Windows 11 upgrade guidance does not establish a Windows 10 installation requirement.
