Amazon Fire tablets use the Amazon Appstore, not Google Play Store. You can add Google Play by installing four compatible Google APK packages in the correct order. The process does not require a computer or command-line tools, but choosing APKs for the wrong Fire OS version or CPU architecture can leave Play Store crashing or apps stuck at “Pending.”
Before starting, connect the tablet to Wi-Fi, charge it, and note its exact model and software version. If the tablet has a microSD card, remove it temporarily; some installation procedures report that the card can interfere with APK installation.
1. Check the Fire tablet model and Fire OS version
Do not rely on a name such as “Fire HD 8” or “Fire HD 10.” Amazon has reused those names across multiple generations, and different generations can require different APK variants.

- Tap Device Options.
- Open About Fire Tablet.
- Record the exact model, generation, and Fire OS version.
Fire OS 7 is based on Android 9, while Fire OS 8 is based on Android 11. Fire OS 5 and 6 use older Android bases. This information is only a starting point: each APK must also support the tablet’s CPU architecture and Android-version requirement.

2. Allow the app to install APK files
Google Play is not installed through the Amazon Appstore. You must download APK files and allow the app opening those files to install them.
On many Fire OS versions, the path is:
Settings → Security & Privacy → Apps from Unknown Sources
Then select Silk Browser and enable Allow from this source.
Newer Fire OS releases may instead show per-app permissions:
Settings → Security & Privacy → Install unknown apps
Allow the permission for the app that will open the downloaded APK:

- Silk Browser, if Silk opens the APK directly; or
- Files or another file manager, if you will open the APK from the Downloads folder.
If the installation is blocked later, return to this setting and grant permission to the specific app that launched the installer. A single universal “Unknown Sources” switch may not exist on newer Fire OS versions.

3. Download the four required Google packages
The standard installation needs all four packages below:

Use a reputable APK archive that displays the package name, Android requirement, architecture, and build information. APKMirror is one source used for this installation method. Avoid modified, “premium,” or repackaged APK files.
For every download, match these details to the tablet:
- Exact Fire tablet model and generation
- Fire OS and its underlying Android version
- CPU ABI, such as ARM 32-bit or ARM64 64-bit
- The APK’s minimum or required Android version
Do not simply choose the newest file. Google Play Services has many variants and is the package most likely to fail when the architecture or Android requirement is wrong. An incompatible selection can cause “App not installed,” immediate crashes, sign-in problems, or downloads that never leave “Pending.”
4. Install the APKs in order
Download all four files, then install them in the required sequence. The files may appear in the Downloads folder in download-completion order, so do not install them from top to bottom without checking their names.

- Open Files.
- Go to Downloads.
- Select the Google Account Manager APK.
- Tap Install.
- When installation finishes, tap Done, not Open.
- Repeat for Google Services Framework.
- Install Google Play Services third.
- Install Google Play Store last.
After each installation, return to the file list and select the next package. Do not launch Play Store or another Google component between installations. The required order is:
Google Account Manager → Google Services Framework → Google Play Services → Google Play Store
After the fourth package finishes, tap Done.
5. Restart and sign in
- Hold the tablet’s power button.
- Choose Restart.
- Wait for Fire OS to load fully.
- Open the app listed as Play Store. It may not be labeled “Google Play Store.”
- Sign in with a Google account.
The first launch can take about 60 seconds while Google Services Framework registers the newly installed components. Avoid repeatedly tapping the icon if it appears slow.
What to do when installation fails
“App not installed”
This usually indicates an incompatible APK, a conflicting existing package, or the wrong variant. Recheck the tablet’s generation, Fire OS version, Android requirement, and ARM versus ARM64 selection. Pay particular attention to Google Play Services.
The APK will not open or installation is blocked
The app opening the file probably lacks the required permission. If Silk opened the download, enable Install unknown apps for Silk. If you selected the file in Files, enable it for Files instead. Then retry the APK.
Play Store opens and immediately closes
The Google Play Services APK is commonly the mismatch. Remove the incompatible package if possible and install a variant matching the tablet’s Android base and CPU architecture. Also confirm that all four packages were installed.

“Checking info” hangs or sign-in loops
Restart the tablet once more. If the problem continues, open Settings → Accounts, remove the Google account, restart the tablet, and add the account again.

- Confirm that Wi-Fi works.
- Check that automatic date and time are enabled.
- Open Settings → Apps & Notifications or App management.
- Select Google Play Store → Storage.
- Tap Clear Cache, then Clear Data.
- Repeat the cache and data cleanup for Google Play Services.
- If necessary, repeat it for Google Services Framework.
The wording varies between Fire OS versions, but the relevant entries are normally under the tablet’s app-management settings.
Google components seem installed, but Play Store does not work
Check that the four installed package identifiers are:
com.google.android.gsf.logincom.google.android.gsfcom.google.android.gmscom.android.vending
If one is missing, or if the packages came from incompatible APK variants, uninstall or disable the failed components where Fire OS permits it and repeat the installation with a compatible set.

Sideloading Google Play does not turn a Fire tablet into an officially Google-certified Android tablet. Play Store may install and run normally, while some apps still refuse to install or function.

A later Fire OS update can also disrupt a previously working setup. If that happens, recheck the compatibility of Google Play Services and Play Store against the tablet’s current Android base and CPU architecture rather than automatically downloading the newest APKs.
How to remove Google Play
A factory reset is not normally required. Open Settings → Apps or Settings → Apps & Notifications → App management, select the Google components, and use Uninstall where available. Some system-related entries may offer only Disable or Uninstall updates.
Remove the components carefully and restart the tablet. Reserve a factory reset for cases where normal app-management options cannot resolve a serious system problem, and back up important data first.

FAQ
Can I install Google Play Store without a computer?
Yes. The standard method uses Silk Browser, the Files app, four compatible APK files, and the tablet’s built-in installer. No command-line commands are required.
Why is Play Store not in the Amazon Appstore?
Fire tablets ship with Amazon Appstore and Fire OS. Google Play Store is not included, so it must be added by sideloading compatible Google APK packages.
Which APK should I install first?
Install Google Account Manager first, followed by Google Services Framework, Google Play Services, and Google Play Store. Tap Done after each installation and do not open the components until all four are installed.
Can I use the newest Google Play Services APK?
Not necessarily. The file must match the tablet’s Fire OS/Android base and CPU architecture. The newest version may be incompatible with an older Fire tablet.
Why does the tablet say the device is not certified?
Installing Play Store does not make the Fire tablet an officially Google-certified device. Apps that require Play Integrity, DRM validation, or other certification checks may still be unavailable.
The Bottom Line
To add Google Play to a Fire tablet, identify the exact model and Fire OS version, allow APK installation for Silk or Files, download compatible variants of the four required Google packages, and install them in this order: Account Manager, Services Framework, Play Services, then Play Store. Restart before signing in. Compatibility matters more than downloading the newest APK available.
