If Instagram’s Poll sticker is greyed out or missing, there is no single confirmed cause. First update the app, search the full Stickers tray, and test a standard Story with a fresh draft. If Poll is still unavailable, access may vary by account, country, or content type; these checks cannot guarantee that Instagram will enable it.
Try these six checks in order
-
Update Instagram
Install the latest version available from your device’s app store, then reopen Instagram. An update is a sensible first check when stickers are unavailable, but it is not a guaranteed fix.
-
Search the full Stickers tray
In the Story editor, tap the sticker icon and look for Poll in the full tray. If sticker search is available, search for “Poll.” Its position and visibility in the first row can change, so do not rely on a particular layout.

Start a standard Story
If you began in a different content composer, switch to a standard Story and check the tray again. Sticker availability can vary by content type.

Test a fresh Story draft
Start a new Story with simple media or a plain background, then open Stickers. This helps check whether the problem is limited to one draft; it does not establish that the original draft was damaged.
-
Close and reopen Instagram
Fully close the app, open it again, and revisit the Story editor. Restarting is a low-cost check for a temporary app problem, not a guaranteed remedy.

The exact eligibility rules are not established here, and changing account type or capture mode is not a confirmed fix. Use Instagram’s in-app help tools to report what happens, including your device, app version, content format, and the checks you tried.

What these checks can—and cannot—tell you
A missing or greyed-out Poll sticker does not point to one confirmed universal cause. The checks above help rule out basic app and composer issues, but they cannot determine whether a particular account is eligible or whether access is limited in a particular country. Meta’s sticker Help Center guidance was not accessible beyond a login screen, so precise eligibility rules could not be verified.
