Insignary says Clarity AIR scans source code to identify open-source code that may be missing from a software bill of materials (SBOM), detect AI-written code, and inventory AI assets. The company announced general availability on October 8, 2026. These are vendor-described capabilities; the launch materials do not provide independent accuracy results or a supported-language list.
What Clarity AIR is designed to find
Clarity AIR is a source-code analysis product, not simply a scanner of declared package dependencies. Insignary positions it as a way to inspect code for open-source components that may not appear in a software manifest, as well as to identify AI-written code and inventory AI assets. The product announcement is available from Insignary’s October 8, 2026 launch release; its Clarity for AI Risk product page describes additional scanning details.
Undeclared open-source code
Insignary says AIR matches source code against its open-source fingerprint database, including code that has been modified, adapted, or regenerated. Its product page describes recursive source scanning, snippet-level matching, and file-level license extraction. The intended use is to surface code that a manifest-based inventory could miss; a match is a signal for investigation, not by itself a complete legal or security determination.

AI-written code and AI assets
The company says AIR classifies code line by line with confidence scores and produces an AI Bill of Materials (AI BOM) alongside a standard SBOM. It presents AI-written code as a separate inventory and risk category. Insignary says detections are reviewed and confirmed by a human before they are counted, and that users can export SBOMs and reports. The launch materials do not explain the review protocol or establish how confidence scores correspond to measured accuracy.

What the launch does—and does not—establish
Insignary’s release estimates that applications today are built substantially on open-source code at a rate of 70–90%. That figure is the company’s estimate in its October 8, 2026 announcement; the release does not cite an independent study for it.
Insignary President and CEO Taek Wan Kim framed the product’s premise this way: “You cannot verify an SBOM by reading the manifest that created it. AI-written code is the same problem. If a developer does not declare it, nothing records it. You have to look at the code itself.” This is the company executive’s rationale for source inspection, not an independent evaluation of AIR.

- The launch materials provide no independent benchmark, measured detection accuracy, or false-positive rate.
- They do not state supported programming languages or file formats.
- They do not document an independently verified compliance outcome or compare AIR’s performance with other products.
Those omissions matter when evaluating whether AIR fits a codebase or whether its findings can support a particular security, licensing, or governance workflow.
Availability and deployment
Insignary says Clarity AIR is generally available through the company and its partner channel, and is deployed on customer-owned infrastructure. Trial licenses are available on request, and the company offers a free demo of its AI-code-detection capability. The announcement does not state a price.

Insignary names BearingPoint in Europe, Cybertrust Japan and TechMatrix in Japan, and TMA Solutions among its strategic partners. These are relationships reported in the launch announcement; the release does not establish each partner’s current role or availability for a particular buyer.
How AIR fits with Insignary’s other products
Insignary positions AIR alongside two distinct offerings: Clarity, which it describes as binary-level software composition analysis, and Clarity SC, which it describes as an SBOM governance platform. Its source and binary software composition analysis page describes the broader Clarity product’s extraction of fingerprints from compiled binaries and matching them against a proprietary knowledge base. That binary-analysis capability should not be confused with AIR’s source-code scanning claims.

Insignary also announced Clarity On-Demand on July 15, 2026, describing it as a pay-per-project service with two weeks of single-user access for one project, SBOM generation, and related alerts. - Which languages, file types, and repository layouts can AIR analyze?
- How are source matches evidenced, and what information is available to validate a finding?
- What does human review involve, and can reviewers see or export the supporting evidence?
- How are confidence scores intended to be used, and how can your team measure false positives and missed detections?
- Can the outputs integrate with your existing SBOM, vulnerability, licensing, or governance processes?
- What infrastructure, access controls, and maintenance are required for deployment on customer-owned systems?
- What are the license terms, pricing, and scope of a trial for your intended use?
These are evaluation questions, not reported product limitations. The available product and launch pages do not answer them all.
