InfoLibria, a company known for content-delivery technology, shifted direction under Certeon toward improving application performance across wide-area network (WAN) links. Contemporary reporting describes the product pivot, but the available sources do not establish the legal terms of the 2003 acquisition or what happened to every original InfoLibria product.
What InfoLibria did before the Certeon pivot
Dealroom describes InfoLibria as a Waltham, Massachusetts-based company founded in 1997 that supplied streaming-media equipment for customer networks. A 2006 Network World report also characterizes it as a former content-delivery network vendor. Dealroom’s company profile lists Certeon as its acquirer in January 2003; that date is secondary-source information, not confirmation of the transaction’s legal structure or terms.
How the business changed under Certeon
Network World reported in November 2006 that Certeon had retooled its product in 2003 to address application performance over wide-area links. The emphasis was no longer simply delivering media across customer networks: Certeon’s later S-Series appliances were designed to accelerate applications moving between a data center and remote offices over a WAN. Network World’s Certeon S-Series coverage describes a paired deployment, with one appliance at the data center and another at the branch or remote site.

Certeon’s later aCelera products
By 2012, Certeon was promoting aCelera for WAN acceleration and secure cloud connectivity. In 2013, Array Networks announced aCelera software as part of its application-delivery portfolio. Array Networks’ 2013 announcement documents that product inclusion. Dealroom reports that Array later acquired Certeon, but the available material does not establish when that acquisition occurred or its terms. Dealroom’s Certeon profile provides the secondary-source account.
What the performance claims do—and do not—show
InfoWorld reported a Certeon lab result claiming a 300% to 600% improvement in transmission of changed Open XML files compared with standard acceleration methods. That is a company lab result as reported by InfoWorld, not an independent product test or a general measure of the S-Series’ performance. InfoWorld’s report on WAN optimization and Microsoft Office supplies that specific claim; it should not be generalized to other file types, networks, or deployments.

The documented history supports a business and product pivot toward WAN application acceleration under Certeon. It does not establish the precise legal form or terms of the 2003 transaction, whether all InfoLibria operations continued unchanged, or the final disposition of each original content-delivery product. The later Array Networks product announcement establishes that aCelera entered Array’s application-delivery portfolio, but not the full ownership or product history beyond that point.
