The Infinix Hot 50 5G is a budget 2024 phone for India that pairs 5G and a capable entry-level processor with a 120Hz display, a 5,000mAh battery, expandable storage and IP54 protection. Its main compromises are the screen’s HD+ resolution and limited brightness, 18W charging, and an unclear major-Android-upgrade outlook. It makes sense only if its current price and availability suit you.
Infinix Hot 50 5G review: the short verdict
In Dhruv Joshi’s review for 91mobiles, published on 24 September 2024, the Hot 50 5G earned 8.0/10. The review praised its price-relative performance, low-light main-camera results and battery life, while criticizing screen brightness, charging speed and the lack of major OS upgrades.
That assessment makes the phone a plausible low-cost choice for everyday use if you value 5G, a large battery, expandable storage and basic dust and splash protection. It is less appealing if you want a sharper, brighter screen, faster charging or a clear commitment to major Android updates. The rating reflects a 2024 review, not a current comparison with every phone available now.
Infinix Hot 50 5G specifications
| Specification | Details |
|---|---|
| Market and launch software | India-market 2024 phone; launched with Android 14 and XOS 14, according to Gadgets 360 |

| Display | 6.7-inch, 720 × 1600 HD+, 120Hz |
| Rear camera | 48MP |
| Front camera | 8MP |

| Storage expansion | MicroSD expansion up to 1,000GB, as listed by Gadgets 360 |

These are listed specifications, not a fresh independent hardware test. In particular, a high refresh rate does not make the display sharper: 720 × 1600 resolution is a clear trade-off on a 6.7-inch screen.

How does the screen hold up?
The 120Hz refresh rate can make scrolling and supported animations look smoother than on a standard-refresh display. The limitation is resolution: HD+ is less detailed than a higher-resolution panel of similar size. The 91mobiles reviewer also flagged brightness, so this is not the phone to prioritize if you often use your screen outdoors or want a crisp display for text and video.
Is performance good enough for the price?
The Dimensity 6300 is an entry-level 5G chipset. The 2024 91mobiles review considered performance a strength relative to the phone’s price. That supports a case for everyday tasks, but it does not establish how the phone performs in every game, under sustained heavy loads or against current alternatives.
Rank #2
- Powerful Performance & Storage – Experience smooth performance with the TCL 40X, featuring a MediaTek Octa-Core processor and 4GB RAM. Store your photos, apps, and more with 64GB of internal storage, expandable up to 512GB via microSD.
- High-Resolution Triple Camera System – Capture stunning details with the 50MP main camera, enhanced by a 2MP depth sensor and 2MP macro lens. The 8MP front camera ensures clear and vibrant selfies.
- All-Day Battery Life – Stay connected longer with a 5,000mAh battery, providing extended usage without frequent charging. Supports fast charging via USB-C.
- Immersive HD+ Display – Enjoy a 6.56-inch HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate, delivering smooth visuals and vibrant colors for gaming, streaming, and browsing.
The listed 4GB/128GB and 8GB/128GB versions differ in RAM, while both offer the same listed storage capacity. If you regularly switch between demanding apps, the 8GB configuration may be the more suitable one on paper; whether it is worth paying more depends on the live price difference and your usage.

What are the cameras like?
The phone has a 48MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie camera. In the 91mobiles review, the main camera produced detailed daylight photos, but exposure could run high, white balance could be weak and colours looked noticeably boosted. The reviewer was more positive about low-light performance.
Rank #3
- Large 6.8-inch HD+ display offers an immersive viewing experience for streaming, gaming, and more.
- Capture stunning photos and videos with the 48MP triple rear camera system and 13MP front-facing camera.
- Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G processor for lightning-fast performance and 5G connectivity.
- 64GB of internal storage provides ample space for apps, photos, videos, and files (expandable via microSD card).
- Long-lasting 4,750mAh battery keeps you going all day on a single charge.
That is a mixed result rather than a guarantee of consistent camera performance. The available review evidence does not establish long-term behaviour or comprehensive video quality, so buyers who depend on reliable video or consistent colour should look for evidence specific to those needs.
How long does the battery last, and how fast does it charge?
The listed capacity is 5,000mAh, and the 91mobiles reviewer counted battery life among the phone’s strengths. The review says PCMark’s battery test did not work with the phone; using a 3C battery-manager method, the reviewer recorded 9 hours 46 minutes. The reviewer also reported more than seven hours in personal use. Those are results from one reviewer and specific methods, not expected runtimes for every owner.
Rank #4
- Includes a high-definition 9H screen protector made from 9H-hardness tempered glass, which effectively resists everyday scuffs, key scratches and accidental knocks, keeping your screen looking as good as new for years to come
- Military-grade drop protection: a hard PC back panel and soft TPU frame combined with shock-absorbing air cushions, plus raised edges to protect the screen and camera lens, providing robust defence against drops, knocks and everyday wear and tear.
- Smooth sliding, secure latching: Precision runners + anti-loosening latches ensure smooth, jam-free sliding and a secure, spring-loaded lock that won’t pop open, making them durable and long-lasting.
- Precise cut-outs, slim and non-slip: Full-featured, precise cut-outs that do not interfere with charging or photography; slim with a textured finish for a non-slip grip, portable and not bulky.
- Innovative 2-in-1 sliding cover and stand: the sliding lens cover doubles as a sturdy folding stand; slide it open to protect against scratches and dust, and close it to instantly transform it into a viewing stand, leaving your hands free for binge-watching or video calls
The 91mobiles product listing specifies 18W charging, and the review criticized charging speed. If you often need a quick top-up, that trade-off matters alongside the battery’s capacity.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhat protection and storage expansion does it offer?
The Hot 50 5G carries an IP54 rating and supports microSD expansion, listed by Gadgets 360 up to 1,000GB. IP54 indicates a degree of dust and water protection; it should not be treated as proof that the phone is waterproof. Expansion can help if you keep photos, downloads or other files on the device, but the card is an additional purchase.

What should you know about software updates?
The phone launched with Android 14 and XOS 14. The 91mobiles review criticized its major-OS-upgrade outlook, while its product listing reports two years of security updates. That listing does not establish a definitive major-version upgrade schedule, and the available information does not confirm the phone’s current installed Android version or security patch. Check the seller’s current software and support details if update longevity is important to you.
Price and availability in India
Gadgets 360’s listing, updated 11 September 2026, gives a snapshot of listed prices: ₹9,999 for the 4GB/128GB version and ₹10,449 to ₹10,999 for 8GB/128GB versions depending on colour. Its page also lists the phone’s specifications and availability information. Separately, the 91mobiles listing shows ₹9,999 and ₹10,999 for the configurations but marks the phone out of stock. These are conflicting, time-sensitive retail listings, not a dependable current quote; confirm the chosen configuration, seller, price and stock before ordering.
Quick Recap
Who should buy the Infinix Hot 50 5G?
- Consider it if: you want an inexpensive India-market 5G phone, value everyday performance and battery capacity, and can use the microSD expansion and IP54 rating.
- Look elsewhere if: screen sharpness or outdoor brightness, faster charging, camera consistency or a clearly stated major-OS-update commitment matters more to you.
- Compare before choosing: check current price and stock alongside screen resolution and brightness, charging speed, update commitments, camera consistency, RAM and storage, and durability rating. A 91mobiles review names the itel Color Pro 5G and Realme Narzo N65 5G as competitors, but the available information does not establish current comparative prices, availability or test results for those phones.
