Research can shape the world when discoveries become technologies that solve consequential problems—not simply when more papers are published. The Ashoka University opinion article “Indian research can shape the world,” listed October 7, 2026, argues that India can achieve global impact by developing transformative technologies, but identifies four connected areas that need attention: education, national laboratories, regulatory flexibility, and systemic reform.
From research capacity to transformative technology
The article’s central distinction is between producing research and converting it into technologies with meaningful effects beyond India. That path depends on people able to do ambitious work, institutions equipped to support it, rules that let research proceed, and incentives that help discoveries move into use. The four areas are the authors’ framework for thinking about that challenge—not a ranked list or a proven policy recipe.
The piece is by VijayRaghavan, former Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India and chair of Ashoka University’s Science Advisory Council, and Archish Mittal, Vice-President of Iron Pillar. Ashoka University’s newsroom listing identifies the opinion article; a syndicated text provides its authors and four-part framework.

Education
Education is the foundation for building the skills and intellectual capacity needed for research. The article treats it as part of a larger system: developing talent matters, but talent also needs institutions, workable rules, and routes for ideas to have an impact.
#1 Best Overall
- 96 Holes Design: tube rack can safely accommodate 0.2 Ml PCR micro tubes, ideal for high-throughput laboratory workflows, single size about 4.92 x 3.43 x 1.22 inches/ 12.5 x 8.7 x 3.1 cm is compact and stackable, saves bench space, and can accommodate most laboratory equipment
- Color Coded Organization: contains 6 bright colors (yellow, green, blue, orange, pink, purple) for easy sample tracking, 6 of each color, a total of 36 PCR tube racks, enough for daily use
- Safety Clip on Lid: each tube rack comes with a matching lid for good sealing performance
- Durable: made of PP (polypropylene), autoclave, durable, and reusable in the laboratory
- Wide Application: ideal for scientists, researchers, and students in medical, industrial, academic, and food testing laboratories; Upgrade your laboratory management with this reliable and colorful PCR tube rack set
National laboratories
National laboratories are among the institutions that can sustain research and help develop discoveries. Their contribution to global impact depends on how effectively they connect research capability with the later stages of technology development and application.
Regulatory flexibility
Rules and administrative processes shape what researchers and institutions can do. The framework calls attention to flexibility as one condition for enabling research, rather than treating regulation as separate from scientific outcomes.
Systemic reform
The final area is broad by design: the surrounding system must support the movement from research toward transformative technology. The article does not present a single reform as sufficient; its four areas are interdependent parts of the challenge.

A specific policy example is NITI Aayog’s Transforming India into a leading Quantum-Powered Economy. The roadmap sets out a 2035 vision for India’s quantum ambitions and identifies research quality, research funding, ease of doing science, commercialization, and industry participation as relevant priorities.

- Model Number: 1060-600CNEa
- Item Package Dimension: 7.5" L x 4.1" W x 3.9" H
- Item Package Weight: 0.51 lb
Those priorities echo the broader research-to-impact problem: scientific capability alone does not ensure that technology reaches practical use. The roadmap calls for stronger fundamental science, easier research processes, faster translation from laboratory to market, and greater industry engagement. These are roadmap priorities and aspirations, not proof that the intended outcomes have already been achieved. Its targets belong to that quantum-policy document; they are not statistics or claims made by the Ashoka University opinion article.

For Indian research to have international consequences, the journey cannot end at publication or discovery. The framework points instead to a connected chain: education develops people; laboratories and other institutions support research; workable rules allow it to proceed; and broader reforms help discoveries move toward technologies that can be used. The quantum roadmap offers one field-specific example of how policy can address parts of that chain, while the opinion article makes the wider case for transforming research capacity into impact.
Quick Recap
Rank #4
- Reusable injection pen for 3 mL cartridges: A refillable pen injector built to be used again and again. Load a cartridge, dial the amount, and replace the cartridge when it runs out while keeping the same pen body.
- 60-unit click dial: 60 tactile click stops, 0.01 mL per click, up to 0.6 mL in one turn. Each click is a fixed mechanical step, so you can feel the count as well as read it on the numbered dial.
- Fits standard 3 mL long-stopper cartridges: Takes 3 mL glass cartridges with an 11 mm long gray stopper. Fits MODTECH V2 and V3 pens and V1-style pens with no adapters. Short-stopper cartridges will not seat.
- Machined aluminum body: Solid metal build with a firm click and a protective cap. 6.3 inches long and about 1.76 oz, slim enough to store in a fridge door with a cartridge loaded.
- Pen only, clearly stated: Includes one V2 pen. Cartridges and standard screw-on pen needles are sold separately. Supplied empty with no substances. For laboratory and research use only. Not a medical device.
