India’s Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on October 3, 2026, that Navpreet Singh had been deported from Türkiye, returned to India and placed in custody in connection with alleged drug-trafficking and other crimes. The announcement identifies him as a wanted figure, but the reports available do not establish a conviction or spell out the legal procedure used to bring him back.
What India announced about Navpreet Singh
News On AIR reported on October 3, 2026, that Shah announced Singh’s return and custody. Shah said Indian agencies tracked Singh down and “secured his deportation.” News On AIR’s report attributes the announcement to the Home Minister.
Shah described Singh as a narco-trafficking “kingpin.” That label is an official characterization, not a finding established by a court in the reports cited here.
