It sends opt-out and deletion requests to data brokers on your behalf, tracks their responses, and resends requests on a schedule while your subscription is active. In a 2025 independent study that compared four commercial services, Incogni had the highest result: 76.6% of its participants’ records fell into the study’s “Removed / Not found” category after 30 days. That is a strong result, but it describes one study, one status definition and one time window. It does not guarantee that your own information will be removed from every site, or that it will stay off them.
How the process works
Incogni runs most of the work in the background once you sign up. The sequence looks like this:
- Authorize the service. You give Incogni permission to act on your behalf so it can send requests in your name.
- Provide identifying details. Incogni uses the details you supply to match records at brokers. The more accurately these match how your information appears online, the more likely a request is to find the right record.
- Submit requests to covered brokers. The Standard plan sends automated requests to Incogni’s covered public and private brokers.
- Monitor responses. Incogni tracks each broker’s reply and updates the status of every request.
- Resend requests. While the subscription is active, Incogni repeats requests over time, because brokers can add your information back.
- Review the dashboard. The dashboard shows request statuses and history, and for each broker it shows the average resolution time on your account.
Removal rights depend on where you live. Incogni’s help article says that its general response periods are 30 days where the GDPR applies and 45 days where the CCPA applies. These are response windows, not guarantees. The same article says removal times vary: some brokers respond within a day, others take longer, and follow-up requests can extend the process. The article was updated September 16, 2026.
What the independent test measured
The most useful comparison available is the 2025 paper “Measuring the Accuracy and Effectiveness of PII Removal Services,” published in Proceedings on Privacy Enhancing Technologies. It tested four commercial services and reported outcomes after 30 days of subscription. Its key figures are these:

- Result for Incogni: an average of 76.6% of participant records in the “Removed / Not found” category, the highest of the four services tested.
- Status definition: under the authors’ consolidated definition, a record counted as “Removed / Not found” if it had been removed, or if the participant’s data was not found at the broker. The figure therefore blends actual removals with records that were never present. It is not a count of removals alone.
- Population: the figure describes the study’s participants and records. It is not a probability that a new customer will reach the same result.
The study also warns against equating a long list of covered brokers with effective removal. The services it tested differed in which records they surfaced, and outcomes varied from one participant to another. A single percentage therefore cannot tell you what will happen to your own records.
What Deloitte’s limited assurance does and does not cover
Incogni has published a Deloitte Independent Limited Assurance Report, issued August 6, 2025, which covers the service as it stood on July 18, 2025. As Incogni summarizes it, the report covers the following operating assertions:

This is evidence that Incogni’s stated operating processes were checked and reported. It is not evidence that every user’s information has disappeared from the web. Limited assurance tests specified claims, not the outcome for any individual person.
What the service cannot promise
Private brokers and predicted matches
Incogni says most private-broker databases cannot be searched publicly, so it cannot check them directly. For those brokers it uses an algorithm that predicts whether a broker is likely to hold your information. Incogni acknowledges that this approach can send requests to brokers that have no record of you. These are the company’s descriptions of its method, not an independently measured false-positive rate.

Public people-search sites
For public people-search sites, Incogni says it runs random checks and files complaints when it finds that a company has not complied. You can check the same sites yourself by searching your name and comparing the results with your dashboard.
What a completed status means
Incogni’s status guide distinguishes completed, scheduled and suppressed requests, and acknowledges that some brokers resist removal or respond inconsistently. A completed status records that a request was closed, not that your data will never reappear. TechRadar’s June 30, 2026 comparison of Incogni and OneRep reported that a broker told the reviewer a request had been processed, while the removal itself was finalized later. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a measured rate, but it shows why status labels deserve a second look.

Relisting
Brokers can list your information again after it has been removed. Incogni’s help material says that many brokers do this, and that is why its service resubmits requests rather than treating a single removal as final.

Pricing changes. When this review was prepared, Incogni’s pricing page showed promotional first-year prices alongside renewal prices, and those figures can vary by region. Read the checkout price and the renewal terms before you subscribe rather than relying on any price quoted in an older review.

Timing matters as well. A one-month subscription may end before slower requests are resolved, or before brokers have had time to relist your data. Incogni recommends year-round monitoring for ongoing removal.
Checking your own results
Aggregate figures cannot tell you whether your records are gone. The dashboard can, if you read it systematically:
- List every broker whose status is completed, scheduled or suppressed, and note the date of each.
- Compare each broker’s average resolution time with the time windows in Incogni’s help material. A broker that is well past its usual window needs attention.
- Search your name on the public people-search sites that appear in your dashboard, and record what you find.
- Watch for the same broker reappearing across several cycles. Repeated relisting is a signal to escalate rather than wait.
- If you are on Unlimited, submit a custom request for any site the standard list does not reach.
Independent reviews and company statements
PCWorld’s November 7, 2025 review described Incogni as easy to use and highly automated, and listed limited verification as a drawback. PCWorld discloses that it can earn commissions from purchase links, so treat its review as editorial context rather than a laboratory result.
Darius Belejevas, Head of Incogni, said in the company’s report announcement: “The trust of our users is what drives our service. As a leader in the personal data removal industry, we believe it’s our responsibility to set a new benchmark for transparency and accountability. This independent report is more than a validation—it’s a call to the industry to raise its standards.” That is a statement of the company’s position, not an outside assessment of its results.
