IKEA and Xbox launched YXSTABY, a nine-piece collection of gaming-inspired furniture and accessories, on October 1, 2026. The range is designed to make gaming fit into everyday living spaces, with seating, mobile furniture, storage and Xbox-controller-inspired display pieces. Availability varies by market, so check your local IKEA store or website for current products and stock.
What is IKEA’s big October news for Xbox fans?
The announcement is a home-furnishing collaboration, not a new Xbox console or game. IKEA and Xbox say YXSTABY was developed to support gaming in shared, everyday spaces, where people may want to put equipment away or move it between rooms. The companies describe each piece as a collaboration between a designer from IKEA and one from Xbox. IKEA’s announcement outlines the design approach, while Xbox’s October 1 announcement marks the launch.
IKEA’s announcement characterizes gaming as part of everyday life for more than 3 billion people, but does not identify the underlying study or methodology. Its references to Xbox’s 25 years of experience and IKEA’s more than 80 years of home-living expertise are company descriptions, not independently audited measures.

The companies describe nine pieces spanning furniture, seating, storage and decorative accessories:
#1 Best Overall
- MODERNIZED DESIGN — Experience the modernized design of the XBOX Wireless Controller with sculpted surfaces and updated geometry that enhances comfort and control during long gaming sessions.
- PRECISION PERFORMANCE — Stay on target with a hybrid D-pad and textured grips on triggers, bumpers, and back case for improved accuracy and handling.
- SHARE BUTTON: Seamlessly capture and share content such as screenshots, recordings, and more with the new Share button.
- VERSATILE CONNECTIVITY — Connect via USB-C for plug-and-play on console and PC, or quickly pair and switch between supported devices with XBOX Wireless and Bluetooth support.
- BUILT-IN AUDIO SUPPORT — Plug in compatible headsets using the 3.5mm audio jack for direct voice chat and immersive in-game sound.
- A gaming lounge chair
- A stool inspired by an Xbox controller thumbstick
- A D-pad-inspired cushion
- A decorative platter inspired by the controller’s D-pad
- A mirrored controller display box
- A TV stand on castors
- A rolling side table
- A monitor stand
- A toolbox that can also support a laptop
IKEA and Xbox emphasize practical features alongside the controller references. The TV stand has castors and rear storage; the side table has sliding-door storage and charging space; and the monitor stand raises one or two screens and includes storage and holders for a phone, headphones and controller. The toolbox is intended to organize controllers, cables and other hardware, and its lid can serve as a laptop stand. These are the companies’ product descriptions, not independent assessments of performance.
How the designs reference Xbox controllers
The controller is the collection’s central visual cue. The cushion and platter take their shape from the D-pad, while the mirrored display box is designed to show a controller from multiple sides. IKEA says the thumbstick stool was developed with Xbox designers using original controller 3D files. Its description highlights a grip texture and a curved seat; designer David Wahl said it “even moves the way a thumbstick does, so it tilts with you while you play.” That is a description of the design, not a tested comfort or stability claim.

When did the IKEA Xbox collection launch?
IKEA’s global announcement, dated August 26, 2026, said the range would arrive in stores and online from October 1. Xbox’s launch-day announcement said it was available worldwide starting October 1, 2026. The statements establish the announced launch timing, but not identical availability in every country or current inventory.
Where can you buy IKEA Xbox furniture?
Check the IKEA website or store for your country and search for YXSTABY or the specific product name. IKEA says availability may vary by market, and Xbox advises customers to contact their local IKEA for details. The launch announcements do not provide a current country-by-country price and stock list, so verify the product page and local availability before travelling or purchasing.

Which YXSTABY pieces might suit your setup?
Choose based on how you use your room rather than assuming a controller-inspired design will perform better. The announcements support these practical distinctions:
- Seating: Look at the lounge chair for a dedicated gaming seat, or the thumbstick stool if you want a more flexible seat with distinctive styling. The announcements do not provide independent comfort comparisons.
- Moving furniture: The TV stand and side table are described as mobile, with castors or rolling designs; consider whether you need to shift furniture between uses.
- Storage or display: The TV stand, side table and toolbox include storage features, while the mirrored box is intended to display a controller.
- Screen and accessory organization: The monitor stand is described as raising one or two screens and providing holders for common devices and accessories.
- Room and style: Consider the footprint and whether you want prominent Xbox-controller references in a shared living space.
The company announcements do not establish independent test results for comfort, stability, durability or value, so those qualities should not be inferred from the designs or promotional descriptions.
