The cookware behind the “$34 Le Creuset dupe” headline is a light-pink, 2.6-quart VARDAGEN enameled cast-iron pot with a lid—not IKEA’s similarly priced bare-cast-iron frying pan. Tom’s Guide reported the pot at $34 on October 1, 2026, but that is a reported price, not a guarantee of today’s price or local stock. The “dupe” label is a style-and-value comparison, not proof that this pot matches Le Creuset in performance, finish, warranty, or durability.

Which IKEA pot is the $34 item?

Tom’s Guide identifies the featured product as IKEA’s light-pink VARDAGEN enameled cast-iron pot with lid, with a reported capacity of 2.6 quarts. Its October 1, 2026 article describes the pot as suitable for all cooktops and oven use, and suggests it for slow-cooking roasts, casseroles, and risotto. Those exact-item details come from the article; the IKEA product pages available for comparison cover other VARDAGEN models, not this pink pot. Check the current listing for its specifications, price, and availability before buying.

The similarly priced IKEA VARDAGEN 11-inch frying pan is a different product: it is bare cast iron, not an enameled pot with a lid. IKEA’s US page lists that skillet at $34.99, says it is oven-safe and compatible with all cooktops, and marks it hand-wash only. See IKEA’s skillet listing.

What “Le Creuset dupe” does—and does not—mean

Here, “dupe” is a shorthand for a lower-priced pot with a familiar enameled-cast-iron look. It should not be read as evidence that the 2.6-quart pink pot has the same materials, finish, cooking results, lid fit, warranty, or lifespan as a Le Creuset Dutch oven.

The available hands-on comparison by Homes & Gardens tested a different IKEA product: the larger, matte-black 6.9-quart VARDAGEN pot against a 5.5-quart Le Creuset Signature Round Dutch Oven. The reviewer reported successful chicken cooking and fond development in the IKEA pot, while noting its rougher finish and less snug lid. Those observations apply to that larger model and one writer’s test; they do not establish how the small pink pot performs.

For that larger-model comparison, Homes & Gardens listed prices of $59.99 for IKEA and $435 for Le Creuset at the time of writing. It also described matte versus smooth enamel, hand-wash care versus dishwasher-safe care (with hand washing preferable for Le Creuset), 15-year limited versus limited lifetime warranties, and fewer color options for IKEA. Both were listed as compatible with all cooktops and for oven use. These are model-specific, time-sensitive details, not a direct specification comparison for the pink pot. Is 2.6 quarts the right capacity?

A 2.6-quart pot is a smaller format than many Dutch ovens marketed for family-sized batches. It may suit a modest quantity of stew, a side dish, or a smaller roast, but whether it works for your usual cooking depends on portion size and the pot’s shape. The article’s suggested uses—roasts, casseroles, and risotto—are not a substitute for checking the interior dimensions and the quantity you typically prepare.

IKEA’s separate US 5.3-quart enameled VARDAGEN pot gives a useful example of why model names alone are not enough: that listing is for a different size and color, priced at $59.99, with a 15-year limited warranty, oven-safe status, compatibility with all cooktops including induction, and hand-wash care. Do not transfer those terms to the pink pot. Check the separate 5.3-quart IKEA listing.

What to check before putting it in your basket

  • Current price and stock: The $34 figure is Tom’s Guide’s report from October 1, 2026. Confirm the live IKEA listing and availability where you shop.
  • Capacity and dimensions: Decide whether 2.6 quarts and the pot’s footprint suit your typical batch size, burners, oven, and storage space.
  • Cooktop and oven compatibility: Tom’s Guide describes the pink pot as suitable for all cooktops and oven use, but verify those claims on the exact current product listing.
  • Care instructions: The pink pot is described as enameled and not needing seasoning before first use. Follow its own current care directions; seasoning instructions for bare cast iron do not apply automatically.
  • Warranty and finish: Confirm the exact model’s warranty and inspect the enamel and lid details if possible. Neither the separate 5.3-quart IKEA pot’s warranty nor the larger black model’s comparison details establish the pink pot’s terms.

IKEA’s older Canada care PDF discusses seasoning and hand-washing bare cast iron. It is not the care guide for this enameled pot, so it should not be used to infer the pink model’s maintenance requirements. View IKEA Canada’s VARDAGEN cast-iron care PDF.

How to judge the value

If the live price is close to the reported $34 and the 2.6-quart size meets your needs, the pink VARDAGEN may be an appealing way to get the look and format of an enameled cast-iron pot for less upfront. Treat that as a price-and-style proposition, not a proven like-for-like replacement for Le Creuset. For a confident comparison, prioritize the exact model’s capacity, enamel finish, lid fit, compatibility, care, warranty, current price, and local availability over the brand resemblance.
