The stool is more than a controller-shaped novelty. IKEA says it was developed with Xbox device designers using the controller’s original 3D design files. The controller grip texture was adapted to help keep a seated person in place, while the seat’s curve and stability were worked out for use as furniture.

It also tilts with the sitter, echoing the movement of an analog stick. IKEA of Sweden designer David Wahl described the challenge as making it work “with the right seating curve and stability, while still feeling like a thumbstick.” That describes the design intent; the available product material does not establish an independent comfort or durability assessment.
The wall-mountable controller display box
The mirrored display box is the range’s most direct answer to the question of how to show off a controller without leaving it on a desk. IKEA’s US listing describes a mirrored interior and a transparent, removable holder. Keep the holder in place for a controller, or remove it to display a small gaming collectible. The box can be placed horizontally or vertically, either on a wall or freestanding.

Why the collaboration works as a full range
YXSTABY does not rely on controller shapes alone: several pieces connect their visual references to a practical role. The thumbstick becomes a tilting stool; the display box presents a controller or small collectible; and the monitor stand, side table and TV stand address storage, cable or accessory management. That mix makes the collection relevant to someone furnishing a gaming corner as well as someone who wants a smaller Xbox-inspired accent.
