IKEA and Xbox’s YXSTABY collection is a nine-piece range of gaming-inspired furniture and home accessories designed for shared living spaces. Announced on August 26, 2026, it became available worldwide starting October 1, though IKEA says availability varies by market. The collection includes seating, rolling furniture, storage, screen supports and Xbox-inspired decorative pieces; official launch materials do not establish prices.
What is the IKEA and Xbox YXSTABY collection?
YXSTABY is a collaboration between IKEA and Xbox, not a single gaming chair or console accessory. Its nine pieces are intended to support gaming while fitting into a home used for other everyday activities. IKEA describes the range as addressing needs such as moving screens, storing gaming gear, charging devices, organizing a smaller setup and displaying controllers or collectibles.
The design process paired one designer from each team on every piece. IKEA says the teams also visited homes where gaming is part of daily life. Xbox brought experience with how people play, while IKEA contributed its home-furnishing expertise. The stated aim was to make gaming furniture people would choose for their homes, rather than equipment that feels out of place when play ends.
What’s included in the YXSTABY collection?
| Item | What it is designed to do |
|---|---|
| Gaming lounge chair | Supports different sitting positions and has a pocket for a controller. |
| Monitor stand | Raises one or two screens, with storage underneath and holders for a phone, headphones and controller. |
| TV stand on castors | Moves between rooms and provides storage for gaming equipment. IKEA describes it as the first TV stand of this type it has developed. |
| Side table on castors | Provides a movable surface for controllers, with storage and charging behind sliding doors. |
| Laptop support/toolbox | Stores portable gaming essentials; its lid closes over the contents and doubles as a laptop stand. |
| Thumbstick-inspired stool | A seat shaped like a controller thumbstick. IKEA says it was developed using original Xbox Wireless Controller 3D design files and tilts during use. |
| D-pad cushion | A soft decorative cushion shaped like a directional pad. |
| Stainless-steel D-pad-inspired platter | A serving or display piece using the same directional-pad motif. |
| Mirrored display box | Displays controllers, figurines and other collectibles. |
The products serve different purposes, so the useful question is what your setup needs: a place to sit, a way to move a screen, storage and charging, a portable laptop station, or an accent for displaying gaming items. IKEA’s launch materials describe these functions but do not provide enough dimensions or specifications for a detailed ergonomic or space-fit comparison.

How does the collection fit into a shared home?
The range mixes practical furniture with pieces that make the Xbox inspiration more visible. The TV stand and side table are on castors, the laptop toolbox can close away its contents, and the monitor stand combines screen height with accessory storage. By contrast, the thumbstick stool, D-pad cushion, platter and mirrored box lean into gaming as a visual theme.
IKEA’s launch materials describe muted white, black and beige, with green accents on pockets and storage details. That restrained palette is part of the collection’s stated goal: to make gaming-related furniture feel at home in shared rooms rather than look like equipment used only during a session.

IKEA’s August 2026 announcement also said gaming is an essential part of everyday life for “more than 3 billion people.” That is IKEA’s stated figure; the announcement does not identify an underlying study or methodology, so it should not be treated as an independently verified estimate.
