iFixit’s USB-C soldering iron is the FixHub Smart Soldering Iron, a 100W tool introduced in September 2024. It can run from a suitable USB-C Power Delivery (PD) source, so you do not have to buy the separate FixHub Power Station to use it. For best performance, iFixit recommends a 65–100W USB-C PD supply.
What iFixit’s USB-C soldering iron is
The FixHub Smart Soldering Iron is part of iFixit’s FixHub Power Series, which the company announced in September 2024 for repair enthusiasts, professionals and beginners. The launch is not new in 2026; iFixit’s current product page still lists the iron. It is rated at 100W and uses USB-C PD for power.
iFixit says it chose USB-C to carry power and data: the iron can work with compatible PD sources and communicate with the FixHub Power Station. That explanation comes from the company’s own account of the product’s development with product-development firm Intercreate, rather than independent reporting. iFixit’s design account

The iron connects to a USB-C PD power source. iFixit recommends a supply rated at 65–100W for optimal performance; a USB-C connector alone does not establish that a charger supports the required PD output. The standalone package includes a USB-C cable, but the listing does not include a power station. iFixit’s current iron listing

- 6 Temperature Levels: The tail knob of the soldering iron has 6 levels for adjusting the temperature. Can be adjusted accurately and efficiently for different work scenes in the range between 390°F to 840°F (200°C to 450°C) so as not to damage heat-resistant components.
- Compact Structural with Stability: Equipped with an aluminum storage stand, the base tray can be pressed to pop up to store the welding head. The exquisite industrial design allows the soldering iron to be displayed on the table like an aesthetic piece, keeping the workbench clean, beautiful, comfortable, and pleasant.
Which setup makes sense?
- Choose the standalone iron if you already have access to a USB-C PD supply that meets iFixit’s recommendation and do not need battery operation.
- Consider the station bundle if you need a portable battery-powered setup, want the station’s physical controls or value its power-bank function.
- Check the exact bundle contents before buying: the toolkit and station bundle are distinct configurations, and current bundle prices are not established by the current iron listing.
For a comparison with another soldering tool, check the PD supply requirement, battery options, temperature controls, safety indicators, tip availability and repair documentation. The available specifications do not establish a head-to-head performance result against other irons.
