The app in the headline is probably STIRR, based on the wording of a LinkedIn post by Todd Carter. That post is not an official STIRR product page, however, so it does not establish whether STIRR currently operates, where it is available, how many channels it carries, or which devices it supports. For a confirmed way to watch live channels without cable, use a free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) service such as Tubi or Pluto TV.
What app lets you watch live TV for free?
“Free live TV” usually means FAST: internet television funded by advertising rather than a monthly subscription. You install an app or open a web player, choose a channel from a live guide, and watch scheduled programming. Short commercial breaks pay for the service, so free does not mean commercial-free or identical to a cable package.
The headline’s STIRR reference is plausible but unconfirmed. The only direct match located for that wording is a social-media post, not a current company page. There is therefore no reliable basis to promise a STIRR channel count, local coverage, country availability, device list, or continued operation. Treat STIRR as a lead to verify in your own app store and on an official site before relying on it.

Tubi’s Help Center describes the service as a “100% free, 100% legal streaming service.” It says the app is free to install, its content is free to watch, and short ad breaks fund the service. Its live page organizes channels into categories including news, sports, movies, documentaries, kids and lifestyle.

How to watch free live TV on a television
Using an Amazon Fire TV Stick
- Connect the Fire TV Stick to an HDMI port and complete the on-screen Wi-Fi setup.
- Open the Fire TV app store and search for Tubi or Pluto TV.
- Install the app published for your device and launch it.
- Open the Live or Channels section, then select a category or channel.
- If the app requests an account, follow its sign-in instructions; availability and required features can differ by region.
Tubi officially lists Amazon Fire TV among its supported platforms, making a Fire TV Stick a practical way to move the service from a phone or browser to a television. Confirm that your specific Fire TV Stick model and country storefront offer the app before purchase.
Using a phone, computer or smart TV
Install the service from the Android or iOS app store, use the web player where available, or search the built-in app store on a supported smart TV, game console or streaming box. The live guide is the authoritative answer for what you can watch in your location; screenshots or channel lists from another country may not match.

What “free” does—and does not—include
- It does include: access without a recurring TV subscription, with advertising paying for programming and distribution.
- It does not guarantee: every broadcast network, your local station, premium cable channels, regional sports rights or the same lineup in another country.
- It can change: channel names, schedules, device support and geographic rights are controlled by licensing and may be updated without notice.
Why a channel may be missing
If a channel does not appear, first check your account’s country, the app’s current live guide and whether the title is on-demand rather than scheduled live. Update the app, restart the streaming device and verify that your internet connection is stable. A missing local station is usually a rights or geographic limitation, not a fault with the Fire TV Stick.
