I Want to Play the Villain! is a theatre-themed logic puzzle game about assigning actors to roles and shaping a show around what its cast wants or fears. The full game is planned for Q1 2027 and is not yet available; a free Steam demo is listed as released on August 17, 2026. What is I Want to Play the Villain!?
The game’s Steam listing describes it as “a theatre-themed logic puzzle game.” Rather than acting out a villain story, you arrange a cast and adjust a production so the actors can perform roles that suit them.
Steam says the game is organized into chapters with distinct settings, characters, mechanics, and stories. Changing story elements can lead to different performances and outcomes. The listing describes increasingly challenging puzzles, but does not provide a complete chapter guide, actor roster, or walkthrough.

The cast is the core of the puzzle. Steam says every actor has “their own wishes, ambitions, fears, and favorite roles.” You use those preferences as constraints when arranging the production.

The store description frames the aim as making everyone happy on stage. It does not establish that every puzzle has only one valid solution. These details describe the game as presented on Steam; the full release has not yet been played or independently verified here.

Steam lists a free, single-player demo released August 17, 2026. Visit the demo listing to check current availability and install it. The full game is listed for Q1 2027, but that is a planned release window, not a guaranteed launch date; check the live Steam page for updates.

What controls and accessibility options are listed?
The demo’s Steam listing reports full controller support, naming Xbox and PlayStation controllers, as well as a mouse-only option. It also lists saving anytime and the ability to play without quick-time events. These are store-page claims, not a guarantee that every device behaves identically. Steam Deck compatibility is listed as unknown.
