Yes. Schell Games identifies I Expect You To Die 2 and I Expect You To Die 3 as Steam Frame Verified. Separately, the developer updated the Steam version of I Expect You To Die 3 to use OpenXR and Unity 6. That runtime and engine change is documented for the Steam build; it does not establish a matching change to the standalone Quest version.
Are I Expect You To Die 2 and 3 Steam Frame Verified?
Yes. Schell Games’ October 1, 2026 announcement identifies both games as Steam Frame Verified. The studio’s I Expect You To Die 2 portfolio page also lists Steam (Steam Frame Verified) among the game’s platforms. The verification is the developer’s compatibility designation; it is not a published frame-rate test or a guarantee of a particular performance result.
What changed in the I Expect You To Die 3 OpenXR update?
The change applies to the Steam version of I Expect You To Die 3. Schell Games says it “Updated the Steam version of the game to use OpenXR for both Oculus/Quest headsets and SteamVR headsets.” The announcement also says the game is “Updated to Unity 6”. These are Steam-build release notes, not evidence that the standalone Quest build received the same runtime or engine migration.

Headset support and recentering
The update describes OpenXR support for Oculus/Quest and SteamVR headsets. Windows Mixed Reality is supported on Steam through the Oasis driver. Playspace recentering now uses the headset’s own control:
- SteamVR headsets: Hold the Steam or System button to recenter.
- Meta headsets: Select Reset View.
If the view is misaligned after launching, use the applicable headset control rather than looking for the game’s former recentering method.
Visual and gameplay fixes
The Unity 6 update notes mention performance improvements and improved particle visual effects, but provide no frame-rate measurements or quantified gains. Other listed changes include:

They do not report benchmark results, Steam Frame hardware specifications or availability, or a corresponding update to I Expect You To Die 3’s Quest standalone build. Independent reporting dated October 5, 2026 also notes that the update posts provide no frame-rate results: UploadVR’s report on the verification announcements.
