After moving from a Pixel 6a to a Galaxy S24, How-To Geek writer Dibakar Ghosh says he missed three Pixel features: offline voice typing, the feel of Pixel haptics and Adaptive Vibrations, and Now Playing’s automatic song recognition. He later returned to a Pixel 10. This is one person’s account, not a controlled comparison or a verdict on every Pixel and Galaxy model.
Ghosh’s account was published September 23, 2026, in How-To Geek’s article syndicated by Yahoo Tech. The comparison is useful for understanding what he missed in daily use, but it does not establish how current devices compare across software versions, settings, languages, or regions.
1. Offline voice typing
On his Pixel 6a, Ghosh says he used Gboard voice typing to compose messages, email, and notes while walking. He found the ability to dictate without relying on an internet connection especially useful. On the Galaxy S24 setup he tried, he says voice typing did not offer the same experience and transcription depended on a reliable connection in his use.
That is a report of his experience, not a controlled test of transcription accuracy or a claim that every Galaxy requires a connection. The account does not specify the relevant settings, languages, or performance on other models. If offline dictation matters to you, check the voice-typing options on the exact phone and language you plan to use rather than assuming the behavior carries across the Pixel and Galaxy lines.

2. Pixel haptics and Adaptive Vibrations
Ghosh describes Pixel haptics as more natural-feeling than the Galaxy S24’s vibration, which he found noticeable but less naturally tuned. He also missed Adaptive Vibrations, described in the article as adjusting vibration strength to the surroundings. These are subjective impressions, and the account does not independently establish availability across Pixel versions.
Ghosh summed up the tactile difference this way: “It’s honestly hard to explain, and one of those things you really need to feel in your hand to truly understand and appreciate.” If vibration feel is important, trying both devices in person is more informative than relying on a feature name or another person’s sensory judgment.

3. Now Playing
The article describes Pixel’s Now Playing as recognizing nearby music, showing the song on the lock screen, and keeping a history the user can revisit. Ghosh says he valued being able to identify music at places such as parties or malls without stopping to search manually.
That convenience was part of his own routine; it is not evidence that the feature is available on every Pixel model or in every region. The comparison also does not establish how current Galaxy phones handle similar song-identification workflows.

What this comparison can—and can’t—tell you
The experience described is specific: Ghosh moved from a Pixel 6a to a Galaxy S24 and later returned to a Pixel 10. His reasons highlight three everyday differences he noticed, rather than measured performance or an overall ranking of the phones.
- Voice entry: His Pixel workflow let him dictate while walking without relying on connectivity as he did with the Galaxy setup he tried.
- Vibration: He preferred the Pixel’s tactile feel and missed Adaptive Vibrations.
- Music discovery: He valued Now Playing’s ambient recognition and song history.
Because the account does not compare current software versions or establish availability across models and regions, treat it as a set of questions to check on the specific phones you are considering—not a guarantee of what your device will do.
