The fire-risk recall applies to the Humane Charge Case Accessory for Ai Pin—not the Ai Pin wearable itself. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) says the case’s lithium battery can overheat and pose a fire hazard. The recall remedy is now unavailable, so owners of the recalled case should stop using it and follow local guidance for safe battery disposal.
What was recalled—and what was not?
CPSC recall 25-026 covers the separate, chrome Charge Case Accessory for Ai Pin. It does not cover every Ai Pin charger or all Ai Pin hardware. CPSC says no other Humane product is included in this recall.
To identify the recalled accessory, look for the model name and a chrome case with a gray Humane logo on the back. CPSC lists its approximate dimensions as 2¾ × 1½ × 2¼ inches. The case has a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery pack and a USB-C charging port. These identifiers are for recognizing the recalled case, not a claim that other products with similar features are affected. CPSC recall notice

What was the fire hazard?
CPSC says the recalled case’s lithium battery can overheat, creating a fire hazard. The firm reported one instance of a case overheating and melting during charging. CPSC reported no injuries or property damage in its notice. That report does not establish that every other case is safe, and the single reported incident is not enough to calculate a failure rate or an individual case’s probability of failure. What should owners do with the recalled case?
- Stop using it. CPSC’s current recall page says to immediately stop using the Charge Case Accessory. Do not charge it or continue using it as a case.
- Do not put it in household trash or an ordinary retail battery collection box. The recalled case contains a lithium battery, and CPSC gives specific handling guidance for it.
- Contact your municipality or recycling center. Follow local and state rules and the municipal recycling center’s instructions for damaged, defective, or recalled lithium batteries. Ask where and how to take this particular item; drop-off procedures vary by location.
CPSC says the remedy is no longer available. Its current direction is to stop using and discard the recalled case, while handling the battery according to local and state ordinances and municipal recycling-center procedures. CPSC recall notice
Does the recall affect the Ai Pin itself?
The recall notice does not include the Ai Pin wearable. Separately, Humane’s safety guide advises not to use the Ai Pin if it is hot to the touch or appears damaged. It says to charge as directed during setup, use an authorized Humane adapter and cable, and not charge the device when wet. The guide also warns that damaged cables or chargers, or moisture during charging, can create fire, burn, electric-shock, injury, or property-damage hazards. How many cases were included, and when were they sold?
CPSC says about 10,500 Charge Case Accessories were included. The notice says they were sold online at humane.com from November 2023 through May 2024. It listed historical prices of $700–$800 for the Ai Pin Complete System and about $150 for the case sold separately; these are figures from the recall notice, not current prices or evidence of present availability.
