The Huawei nova 16 Ultra is no longer just a leak: Huawei unveiled the nova 16 series in China on June 1, 2026, and sales began June 5. The early report correctly pointed to a 6.84-inch display and a 7,000 mAh battery. Huawei’s final specifications add the key details, including the Kirin 9010S processor, 200 MP RYYB main camera, 50 MP periscope telephoto and HarmonyOS 6.1.
The leak has been superseded by Huawei’s official launch
GSMArena’s pre-launch report described the nova 16 Ultra as a phone expected to use a 6.84-inch LTPO display, a Kirin 9-series processor and a 7,000 mAh battery. Those were provisional leak claims at the time. Huawei subsequently confirmed the screen size and typical battery capacity, and identified the chip as the Kirin 9010S.
Huawei’s official announcement schedule is documented on its nova 16 series release introduction. The company’s launch report says the phones were formally unveiled on June 1 and went on sale June 5, 2026 (Huawei launch report).

Huawei publishes the technical details on its official nova 16 Ultra specifications page and describes the design and camera system on the official product page.
Display: a large LTPO OLED panel
The phone uses a 6.84-inch OLED panel with 2856 × 1320 resolution. Its LTPO adaptive refresh range runs from 1 to 120 Hz, allowing the display to use a lower refresh rate for relatively static content and a higher rate for scrolling or animation. Huawei also lists 2160 Hz high-frequency PWM dimming.
Those figures describe the panel hardware and Huawei’s stated operating modes; they are not an independent measurement of brightness, color accuracy, battery life or flicker performance.

Performance and software
Kirin 9010S
Huawei’s final specification names the processor Kirin 9010S, replacing the leak’s broader “Kirin 9-series” description. The supplied official material does not establish independent benchmark scores, sustained-performance results or a comparative ranking against other current chips.
HarmonyOS 6.1 and storage choices
The nova 16 Ultra runs HarmonyOS 6.1 and is listed with 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB storage configurations. Regional app support, services, connectivity bands and update policies are not established by the China-market specification page, so buyers outside China should verify those points for their market.
Camera system: 200 MP main and 50 MP periscope telephoto
Rear cameras
- 200 MP main: RYYB sensor with optical image stabilization.
- 50 MP periscope telephoto: RYYB sensor with optical image stabilization, approximately 3.7× optical zoom and up to 100× digital zoom according to Huawei.
- 50 MP ultra-wide/macro: RYYB sensor for wide-angle and close-up shooting.
- Color-sensing camera: Huawei lists a separate color-sensing unit in the rear array.
Huawei’s product page calls the system “后置 2 亿全 RYYB 红枫影像” (“Rear 200-million-pixel full-RYYB Maple Leaf imaging”). That is Huawei Consumer Business Group’s promotional wording, not an independent camera assessment. No supplied source provides measured image-quality results, low-light comparisons or stabilization testing.

Battery and charging
Huawei lists a 7,000 mAh typical capacity and a 6,800 mAh rated capacity. The battery is built in and cannot be removed by the user. The distinction matters: the larger typical figure is the headline capacity, while the rated figure is the formal minimum capacity stated on the specification page.

These are manufacturer claims made under laboratory conditions, not an independent durability test. Huawei warns that resistance to water and dust can decline through normal wear and that liquid damage is not covered by the warranty. Do not treat the rating as permission to expose a worn or damaged phone to water.
