The Huawei MateStation X is a premium Windows all-in-one built around an unusually large, sharp 28.2-inch touchscreen. Its 3:2 panel gives office work and web pages more vertical room than a typical widescreen display, and reviewers found the Ryzen 7 5800H model capable for everyday productivity. Its integrated graphics, fixed-height stand, and small port selection are important trade-offs. It makes the most sense for home-office and media use, not graphics-heavy work or gaming—and current price and availability need to be checked in your region.
What the MateStation X offers
Huawei’s China specification page lists two configurations: Ryzen 5 5600H or Ryzen 7 5800H, each with integrated AMD Radeon graphics, 16GB of DDR4-3200 memory and a 512GB NVMe SSD. These are the configurations on that regional product page, not a guarantee that every market or current listing uses the same parts. Huawei’s page describes Windows 10 Home and notes a Windows 11 upgrade in the context of the product’s original rollout; software supplied in other markets may differ. Huawei’s China MateStation X specifications are the best place to check the published configuration details.
The product includes a wireless keyboard with fingerprint recognition and a Bluetooth mouse. Huawei also lists Wi-Fi 6-class 802.11ax connectivity, Bluetooth 5.1, a 720p camera, four microphones, and three speakers: two 5W full-range speakers and a 10W subwoofer. These features make it a self-contained desk setup, though they do not change its central trade-off: the large display is paired with laptop-class integrated graphics rather than a discrete graphics card.

How good is the 28.2-inch display?
The display is the MateStation X’s clearest differentiator. Huawei specifies a 28.2-inch IPS touchscreen with a 3:2 aspect ratio, 3840 × 2560 resolution, 164 pixels per inch and a 60Hz refresh rate. The taller-than-widescreen shape is useful for documents, spreadsheets and web pages because more content fits vertically. It is less tailored to wide-format video than a conventional 16:9 panel, although the large screen still provides ample viewing area.

Huawei’s published panel claims include 500 nits typical brightness, HDR400, 1200:1 contrast, ten-point touch, 98% P3 coverage, full sRGB coverage and ΔE≤1. Huawei cautions that its figures are theoretical and may vary by product batch, software, conditions and measurement. They should not be read as results independently verified for every unit.
IT Pro measured its review sample at 99.5% sRGB, 94.6% DCI-P3 and 88.5% Adobe RGB coverage, with a peak brightness of 529 cd/m². Those are that publication’s test results for its sample, not guarantees for all MateStation X units. IT Pro considered the Adobe RGB result potentially limiting for color-intensive professional photo editing. The publication also found touch less comfortable than using a keyboard and mouse and noted that the screen can collect fingerprints; those are reviewer impressions rather than measured performance claims. How well does it perform for work?
Reviews of the Ryzen 7 5800H configuration describe it as capable for ordinary multitasking and productivity. IT Pro reported an in-house multimedia score of 288 and sequential SSD speeds of 3,003MB/s read and 2,187MB/s write on its reviewed system. It also described the computer as strong for its home-office workloads and relatively quiet during its tests. These figures depend on that publication’s configuration and test methods; they are not a promise of identical results in every task or unit.

Expert Reviews reported a multimedia score of 295 for its Ryzen 7 5800H, 16GB configuration. In that publication’s benchmark, a 24-inch iMac scored 217, but the comparison is limited to that test and those configurations. The useful takeaway is that the Ryzen 7 MateStation X can handle general desktop work; neither benchmark score establishes that it is a workstation or a better buy than current alternatives.

Is it suitable for gaming or creative work?
The integrated Radeon graphics are the main constraint. Reviews identify them as a limitation for demanding graphics workloads, so this is not the right configuration to choose for GPU-intensive professional applications or high-end gaming. For a sense of the gap in one older, specific graphics benchmark, Expert Reviews recorded 17.8fps in its SPECviewperf 3dsmax test on the MateStation X and 50.6fps for a Dell system with an RTX 3050 Ti. That is a publication-specific result, not a general comparison across games or creative software.
For light creative tasks, the high-resolution panel and tested Ryzen 7’s general-purpose CPU performance may be useful, but color-sensitive professional work deserves particular caution: IT Pro’s sample measured 88.5% Adobe RGB coverage. If your workload depends on a discrete GPU or broad Adobe RGB coverage, consider a different system and display combination.

What are the ergonomics and ports like?
The screen tilts, but its height is fixed. That limits how easily you can align it to different chairs, desks and postures; check that the stand height suits your setup before buying. IT Pro noted that the stand neatly houses the system’s components, but the display cannot be raised or lowered.

If your desk relies on several wired accessories, storage devices or displays, plan for a compatible hub or dock rather than assuming the built-in selection will cover everything.

Can you use the MateStation X as a monitor?
Yes. Huawei documents a monitor mode for connecting a compatible external source over USB-C. It is not a generic HDMI monitor, and both the cable and source device must support the required video connection. Huawei says to use a USB-C cable supporting USB 3.2 Gen 1 and DisplayPort 1.2 or later. Huawei’s monitor-mode instructions explain how to enable and use the feature.
- On the MateStation X, open the desktop shortcut menu and enable monitor mode. PC Manager must remain installed and open.
- Connect the external device with a USB-C-to-USB-C cable that supports USB 3.2 Gen 1 and DisplayPort 1.2 or later.
- Use the supplied keyboard to adjust brightness and volume if needed. In monitor mode, the camera, microphone, headset jack, touchpad and color adjustment are unavailable.
Is the MateStation X worth buying?
It is worth considering if your priorities are a large, high-resolution 3:2 touchscreen, a tidy all-in-one desk setup and solid everyday performance from a Ryzen 7 configuration. The display and monitor-mode capability are more distinctive than its graphics performance or expandability.
It is a less convincing fit if you need a height-adjustable screen, many built-in ports, discrete graphics, or dependable Adobe RGB coverage for professional image work. The available reviews are older and do not establish today’s price, stock or value against newer all-in-ones. Before buying, verify the local listing’s processor, memory, storage, operating system, warranty and price; do not assume the China specification page describes every regional SKU.
