As of October 3, 2026, the relevant Samsung comparison is the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Official specifications show different camera strengths—most notably Huawei’s 200 MP telephoto versus Samsung’s 200 MP main camera—but do not establish which phone takes better pictures overall. A fair verdict needs matched photos and video from the same scenes and conditions.
What the camera specifications show
The headline megapixel figures refer to different lenses: Huawei’s 200 MP sensor is a telephoto camera, while Samsung’s is the main wide camera. They are not a like-for-like comparison. The specifications below come from Huawei’s official China-market page and Samsung’s official Galaxy S26 announcement; they describe listed hardware, not comparative image quality.

Which phone may suit each kind of shot?
The published specifications suggest different hardware approaches, but they cannot predict the final photo by themselves. Image processing, focus, exposure, stabilization, and how the cameras behave in real scenes all matter.

Main-camera photos
Huawei lists a 50 MP main camera with a variable aperture from f/1.4 to f/4.0, OIS, and an RYYB sensor. Samsung lists a 200 MP wide camera at f/1.4. Those details identify hardware; they do not show which camera resolves more real-world detail, handles difficult light better, or produces more pleasing color.
Zoom and distant subjects
Huawei lists a stabilized 200 MP telephoto camera, while Samsung lists two telephoto cameras: a 50 MP 5x unit and a 10 MP 3x unit. Their zoom labels also differ. Huawei describes 4x optical zoom as approximate and lists 8x optical-quality zoom; Samsung calls 3x and 5x optical, and 2x and 10x optical-quality. These labels should not be treated as interchangeable guarantees of identical image quality at a given framing.

Ultrawide, macro, and video
Huawei lists a 40 MP f/2.2 ultrawide and tele-macro capability; Samsung lists a 50 MP f/1.9 ultrawide. The figures alone do not establish edge sharpness, distortion, close-focus performance, or color consistency. Huawei lists rear video recording up to 4K, but the cited Samsung launch material does not provide a complete mode-by-mode comparison. A video winner cannot be determined from these specifications.

How to judge a fair camera comparison
To decide which phone performs better for your use, compare independent samples captured with both phones under the same conditions. Keep framing, lighting, and settings as consistent as possible, and include each phone’s default processing because that is part of the everyday camera experience.

- Main camera: daylight detail, exposure, highlight and shadow retention, indoor scenes, and night scenes.
- Ultrawide: distortion, edge detail, and color consistency with the main camera.
- Portraits and people: skin tones, subject separation, and performance with movement.
- Zoom and macro: detail at matched framing, focus reliability, and close-up results.
- Video: available recording modes, stabilization, autofocus transitions, and exposure changes.
- Selfies and moving subjects: consistency across conditions and the ability to keep focus.
Check whether samples were taken by an independent tester or supplied by a manufacturer, and whether each phone used default settings or adjusted controls. Without matched samples or a controlled head-to-head test, an overall winner would be speculation.
