The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 have a feature-rich specification sheet, including two types of drivers, LDAC support, active noise cancellation and wireless case charging. The key limitation when judging them today is that the available independent review dates to 2022, while Huawei’s battery figures are laboratory estimates—not real-world test results. This review separates the confirmed specifications from what they can’t establish.
What the FreeBuds Pro 2 offer
Huawei’s specification page describes an 11 mm dynamic driver alongside a planar diaphragm driver, with a digital crossover and triple adaptive EQ. Those are hardware and processing specifications; they do not by themselves establish how the earbuds sound or whether their tuning will suit you. The Tech Advisor review is a useful independent review from 2022, but its comparisons and price references are historical rather than a current market ranking: Tech Advisor’s 2022 FreeBuds Pro 2 review.
For wireless audio, Huawei lists LDAC, AAC and SBC codecs and Bluetooth 5.2. LDAC availability in practice depends on the playback device and its settings, so check your phone or audio player before buying if that codec matters to you.
Noise control, calls and controls
The listed feature set includes active noise cancellation, transparency mode and call noise cancellation. Huawei also specifies dual-device Bluetooth connection and press-and-swipe controls. These capabilities describe the supported features, not a measured result for how effectively the ANC reduces noise, how natural transparency sounds, or how well calls perform in particular environments.
#1 Best Overall
- 50dB Adaptive Hybrid ANC: CMF Buds Pro 2 ANC earbuds automatically detect noise leakage between the earbuds and your ear canal to ensure optimal noise cancellation performance. With smart ambient sound recognition, they keep you alert during runs and focused in transparency mode.
- Smart Dial & Dual Connection: Customize volume, tracks, and noise modes directly via the smart case dial. Bluetooth 5.4 enables seamless multipoint connectivity, while 120ms low latency gives you a competitive edge in gaming—making these a top choice for Bluetooth earbuds.
- Dirac-Tuned Dual Drivers: Equipped with an 11mm ultra-bass driver and a 6mm tweeter, these noise cancelling earbuds support LDAC lossless audio transmission for rich, detailed sound. Dynamic Bass Boost 2.0 further refines the rhythm, creating an immersive listening experience.
- 6 HD Mics for Clear Voice: Compared to traditional wireless earbuds, the CMF by Nothing Buds Pro 2 triples the audio transmission rate and offers Hi-Res Audio support, preserving sound clarity. AI-enhanced microphones featuring Clear Voice Technology 3.0 ensure natural voice pickup and excellent call quality.
- 43-Hour Total with Fast Charging: Enjoy up to 10 hours of playback on a single charge and 43 hours total with the charging case. A 10-minute quick charge delivers 3 hours of playback—perfect for non-stop gaming, sleep, travel, and commuting. The IP55 waterproof design ensures durability and allows for a quick post-swim rinse.
Huawei lists bone, accelerometer, gyroscope and infrared sensors. Pop-up pairing is specified for EMUI 10 or later smartphones; do not assume the same pairing experience or access to every feature across all phone platforms.

Huawei’s UAE specification page gives the following playback estimates and identifies them as laboratory results for reference; actual use varies. They are manufacturer claims, not independent measurements:

- Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 are designed to be the most comfortable earbuds yet, with a twist-to-adjust fit; they’re built for Gemini, with the Tensor chip that powers premium, immersive sound and cancels twice as much noise as before[1]
- Pixel Buds Pro 2 are made to stay put; use the twist-to-adjust stabilizer to lock your earbuds in during workouts, or adjust the other way for all-day comfort
- Active Noise Cancellation with Silent Seal 2.0 cancels up to twice as much noise as before[1]; Adaptive Audio lets you be aware of your surroundings while drowning out distractions in loud spaces for comfortable listening[10]
- Immerse yourself in clear, crisp audio; the 11 mm drivers and high-frequency chamber deliver powerful bass and smooth treble, and spatial audio with head tracking give you immersive surround sound[2]
- Go live with Gemini, your Google AI assistant; brainstorm ideas, make grocery lists, and schedule events, just by using your voice – with advanced audio processing, you can have clear conversations, even in noisy environments[2,11]
The earbuds have an IP54 rating under controlled laboratory conditions. Huawei cautions that protection may decline with wear, so this should not be read as waterproofing. The case’s protection rating is not stated on the cited specification page. Fit and comfort are personal and cannot be established from the listed dimensions or an unverified hands-on test.
Price and whether to buy
Huawei’s New Zealand launch announcement listed availability from 25 November 2022 at NZ$359.00. That figure is historical launch pricing for New Zealand, not a current offer or a guide to today’s price in another region: Huawei’s New Zealand launch announcement. - Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 are designed to be the most comfortable earbuds ever, with the most secure fit; and they’re built for Google AI, with the Tensor chip that powers premium, immersive sound
- Pixel Buds Pro 2 are small, light, and made to stay put; use the twist-to-adjust stabilizer to lock your earbuds in during workouts, or adjust the other way for all-day comfort
- The first Google Tensor chip in an earbud, the Tensor A1 chip powers twice the Active Noise Cancellation and delivers premium sound[1]
- Conversation Detection pauses your music and switches your earbuds to Transparency mode when you start talking, so you don’t have to take them out
- Pixel Buds Pro 2 have large 11mm drivers for powerful bass and a new high-frequency chamber for smooth treble
The FreeBuds Pro 2 are worth considering if their listed combination of ANC, transparency, dual-device connection, wireless charging and codec support matches your devices and priorities. The evidence here is not enough to recommend them over current alternatives on sound, comfort, ANC effectiveness, call quality or value: those judgments require current comparative testing and local pricing. Treat the feature list as a reason to investigate, not as proof of real-world performance.
