Hindustan Times’ October 3, 2026 morning brief covered two separate developments from October 2: authorities stopped an anti-CEC protest from reaching Jantar Mantar in Delhi, while India won six gold medals on Day 13 of the Asian Games.
Delhi protest was stopped before demonstrators reached Jantar Mantar
Hindustan Times reported that demonstrators seeking Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation were prevented from reaching Jantar Mantar on October 2. The outlet said around 1,000 people were detained; that is HT’s reported figure, not an independently confirmed official tally.

HT described alleged electoral-roll irregularities as part of the context for the protest. Those claims remain allegations in the account: the available information does not establish their factual status or determine responsibility.

The account raised questions about why the party began its agitation in Mumbai rather than Delhi, but the reason for that choice and any broader protest plans are not established here. The Mumbai gathering should not be conflated with the prevented Delhi protest.
India’s six Asian Games golds came across four sports
Akashvani News reported that India won six gold medals on Day 13 of the Asian Games, October 2, across hockey, boxing, wrestling and archery. Its account names the four sports but does not provide a complete event-by-event breakdown of all six medals.

Other items in the morning brief
HT’s roundup also included a report about an Election Commission internal oversight matter, the rescue of Indian crew members after a tanker was struck in the Strait of Hormuz, and actor Salman Khan praising a flydubai pilot. These were separate stories; the brief does not establish a connection between them and the protests or sports results.
The protest figures and electoral-roll claims above are attributed to HT’s account. The medal total and the specified hockey and archery achievements were separately reported by Akashvani News, PIB and Hockey India.
