For most buyers, the Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 is the better flagship convertible for OLED entertainment, speakers, and pen-friendly tablet use. The HP Spectre x360 14 is better for productivity, webcam privacy, a taller 3:2 display, and selected connectivity options. The exact generation, configuration, warranty, and sale price can change the value verdict.

There is an important 2026 complication: “HP Spectre x360 14” usually refers to the 2024 14-eu0000 family, while Lenovo continues selling newer Yoga 9i 2-in-1 models. HP’s newer premium convertible branding has moved toward the OmniBook line, so the Spectre is often an older-stock, refurbished, or discounted alternative rather than a direct same-year rival.

Key takeaways

  • The Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 is the stronger choice for movies, music, OLED smoothness, and a polished 360-degree presentation experience.
  • The HP Spectre x360 14 is the stronger work-first option when a taller 3:2 display, physical webcam shutter, 9MP IR camera, or Wi‐Fi 7 configuration matters.
  • The Yoga 9i Gen 9 listed by Lenovo has a 2.8K OLED touchscreen, up to 120Hz refresh rate, 400-nit brightness, 100% DCI-P3 coverage, HDR True Black 500, and Dolby Vision.
  • Battery life cannot be declared universally because processor choice, OLED brightness, refresh rate, Windows power mode, and workload substantially affect results.
  • A current Lenovo Yoga 9i may be a newer purchase than the last Spectre x360 14, so buyers should compare full product numbers, warranty terms, pen inclusion, and current prices.

Which exact HP Spectre and Lenovo Yoga models are being compared?

This comparison uses the 2024 HP Spectre x360 14 14-eu0000 family and the Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Gen 9 as the closest like-for-like matchup. The newer Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Gen 10 Aura Edition is also relevant when available, but the Gen 10 model should not be treated as having identical display, processor, battery, camera, or pen specifications to Gen 9.

The HP 14-eu0000 specifications identify the relevant camera, wireless, and processor-family options. Lenovo’s Gen 9 product listing documents the OLED configuration described above. A retailer’s name such as “Yoga 9i” or “Spectre x360 14” is not sufficient to identify the machine; compare the complete product number and SKU.

Which laptop has the better display?

The HP Spectre x360 14 is better for vertical productivity, while the Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 9 is better for high-refresh OLED entertainment. Neither display wins every use case, and both families have had multiple panel options.

Display consideration HP Spectre x360 14 Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 9 Better fit
Shape Associated with a taller 3:2 format 16:10 format HP for documents, web pages, coding, and spreadsheets; Lenovo for a conventional multimedia shape
Panel technology Configuration-dependent; verify the exact panel Listed configuration uses OLED Yoga for guaranteed OLED in the cited configuration
Resolution and refresh Configuration-dependent 2.8K and up to 120Hz in the cited Gen 9 configuration Yoga for sharpness and smooth scrolling, if that panel is included
Brightness and HDR Configuration-dependent 400 nits, HDR True Black 500, and Dolby Vision in the cited configuration Yoga for HDR-supported media
Colour Verify the selected panel’s coverage 100% DCI-P3 in the cited configuration Yoga on the documented panel
Glare and outdoor use Glossy touch options can reflect light Glossy OLED touch panel can reflect light Neither; use shade or an external monitor outdoors

The HP Spectre x360 14 product positioning associates the line with a taller 3:2 screen, which shows more of a document or webpage at once. The Lenovo Gen 9 specifications support the Yoga’s 2.8K, 120Hz OLED, wide-colour, and HDR advantages.

OLED provides deep blacks, high perceived contrast, vivid colour, and quick pixel response. OLED also has practical drawbacks: a glossy surface can reflect windows and overhead lights, bright content can increase power use, and prolonged static imagery creates a potential image-retention or burn-in concern. Those risks are not proof that either laptop will fail. Display sleep, sensible brightness, and avoiding static maximum-brightness content are reasonable precautions, while warranty exclusions should be checked before purchase.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Windows scaling also matters. A high-resolution 14-inch panel may require scaling for comfortable text, reducing the amount of usable content compared with the raw resolution. The HP’s 3:2 shape remains useful for work even when scaled; the Yoga’s 16:10 OLED remains attractive for video and games.

Which has better performance?

Performance is too configuration-dependent for a universal winner. Both 2024 families use Intel Core Ultra-era hardware with integrated Intel Arc graphics, but the exact Core Ultra processor, RAM capacity, cooling profile, display resolution, and power mode determine the result.

Workload Likely result What to check
Web, Office, video calls Both should be suitable in comparable Core Ultra configurations; differences may be modest in ordinary use. Core Ultra tier, RAM, background software, and power mode
Large spreadsheets and multitasking The Spectre can be preferable when configured with up to 32GB memory. Whether the RAM is 16GB or 32GB and whether memory is soldered
Photo editing and light creative acceleration Either can handle moderate work, subject to cooling and application support. Integrated Arc graphics, sustained temperature, display colour, and SSD capacity
Long renders, compiles, or exports Neither should be judged by a short burst benchmark; thin convertible cooling can reduce sustained clock speeds. Long-run tests, fan noise, surface temperatures, and plugged-in power mode
Modern gaming or GPU rendering Neither replaces a laptop with a discrete GPU. Game resolution, graphics settings, thermal limits, and the need for dedicated VRAM

The 2024 comparison coverage describes the Yoga Gen 9 refresh as using newer performance hardware and adding a higher-refresh OLED option. HP’s Spectre materials and associated specifications document Core Ultra-era options and configurations reaching 32GB memory.

“AI PC,” NPU, Copilot+, and Aura branding describe platform capabilities rather than a guarantee of faster everyday computing. Software support, eligible features, Windows edition, and regional availability can change. A buyer should choose more RAM and a suitable CPU before paying extra for an AI label.

Which laptop has better battery life?

There is no defensible current battery-life winner without a same-test comparison using the same brightness, refresh rate, resolution, processor class, Windows power mode, and workload. A 120Hz OLED panel can look better while using more energy than a lower-refresh or lower-resolution alternative.

Battery evidence How to interpret it
Independent web-browsing test Useful only when the tested generation and panel match the configuration being considered.
Local video playback claim Useful as a vendor-controlled reference, not as a direct substitute for web-browsing results.
120Hz OLED use Higher refresh, brightness, and bright content can reduce runtime.
Core Ultra 5 versus Ultra 7 Processor choice and power limits can change endurance even within one product family.

Older direct testing found the Spectre ahead of the Yoga in one web-surfing test, but that evidence concerns older generations and should not be presented as proof for a 2026 purchase. Lenovo’s older Yoga listing advertised up to 14 hours of local 1080p video playback; that is a vendor claim under a controlled test, not an independent browsing result. The claim appears on Lenovo’s older Yoga 9i Gen 8 listing.

For a realistic buying decision, look for a review that tests the precise screen and processor combination. If no same-test result exists, treat battery life as a configuration risk rather than awarding a winner from nominal battery capacity or a manufacturer maximum.

Which convertible has the better hinge and tablet experience?

The Lenovo Yoga 9i has the stronger documented presentation and media design: Lenovo identifies laptop, tent, stand, and tablet modes and uses a 360-degree sound-bar hinge. The Yoga 9i Gen 9 reference specifications describe those operating modes and the hinge design.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Yoga’s hinge-mounted speakers can project sound more consistently when the screen is rotated into tent, stand, or tablet positions. A 360-degree hinge alone does not make a laptop comfortable to hold, however. Tablet comfort depends on total weight, thickness, edge shape, heat, keyboard deactivation, and whether the screen is comfortable in portrait orientation.

The HP Spectre also supports the central convertible use cases: notebook work, tent presentations, stand viewing, and tablet input. The taller 3:2 screen can be useful for handwritten notes and portrait documents, but a taller screen does not eliminate the bulk of holding a 14-inch laptop as a tablet.

What about the pen?

Pen value depends on the exact SKU and region. Lenovo’s older Yoga 9i listing specifies an included Precision Pen 2, but buyers must check the box contents for the particular Gen 9 or Gen 10 listing. HP pen inclusion likewise varies by configuration and seller. A pen-oriented buyer should compare the laptop, pen, charger, warranty, and software bundle as one package rather than assuming the product family includes an active stylus.

Tablet buyers should also verify palm rejection, pen charging or storage, keyboard and touchpad lockout in tablet mode, and hinge stiffness. Those details matter more than the fact that both product names contain “x360” or “2-in-1.”

Which has the better webcam and privacy features?

The HP Spectre x360 14 has the clearer privacy advantage in the documented configuration: the 14-eu0000 specification lists a 9MP IR camera, a physical camera shutter, temporal noise reduction, and dual-array digital microphones.

A physical shutter provides a visible mechanical barrier independent of Windows camera permissions. IR support can enable Windows Hello face sign-in, although the exact Windows edition and configuration should be checked. HP also notes that Wi‐Fi 7 functionality requires Windows 11 2024, a 14th-generation Intel Core processor, and a separately purchased compatible Wi‐Fi 7 router. The HP specification and support document contains those conditions.

Lenovo marketed the Yoga 9i Gen 9 with an improved webcam, but camera resolution, privacy controls, microphones, and Windows Studio features must be attached to the exact generation and SKU. The 2024 comparison coverage notes that HP offered Wi‐Fi 7 in higher configurations while the Yoga Gen 9 topped out at Wi‐Fi 6E. Wi‐Fi 7 is not automatically faster without compatible networking equipment and a suitable software environment.

Which laptop sounds better?

The Lenovo Yoga 9i is the clear choice for built-in speakers when the compared generation includes its sound-bar hinge and Bowers & Wilkins-oriented audio system. The speakers are placed in the hinge, helping maintain a more direct sound path in several convertible modes.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Lenovo’s Yoga 9i Gen 9 product page positions the machine around the 360-degree sound-bar hinge and Bowers & Wilkins audio. The exact chassis generation still matters: do not assume that every Yoga 9i bearing the name has identical volume, bass, vocal clarity, or distortion performance.

The HP Spectre’s speakers are adequate for calls, streaming, and ordinary media, but the Yoga is the better choice for buyers who regularly watch films, listen to music without headphones, or use the laptop in tent and stand modes.

Which has the better keyboard and touchpad?

Keyboard and touchpad quality should be judged from the individual review unit because premium branding does not guarantee an identical input system across generations or regions.

Input consideration What matters in daily use Buyer check
Keyboard Key travel, layout, backlight, function-row design, and accidental presses Confirm whether the layout suits long documents and spreadsheet work
Touchpad Click feel, palm rejection, cursor precision, and whether the pad is haptic or conventional Do not assume a mechanical clickpad is a true haptic trackpad
Tablet mode Reliable keyboard and touchpad deactivation Check reviews for accidental input when folded
Biometrics Fingerprint reader and/or IR face authentication Verify the exact SKU rather than the product-family name

The HP’s documented high-resolution IR webcam and physical shutter make the Spectre attractive for office users, while the Yoga’s hinge, OLED screen, and pen-oriented modes make it attractive for presentation and creative use. Neither advantage removes the need to test or verify the touchpad hardware on the exact model.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Which laptop has better ports and connectivity?

The Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 9 has a small practical port advantage in the cited comparison, but neither convertible is a port-rich workstation. The 2024 comparison lists the Spectre with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB-A, and a 3.5mm headphone jack; the Yoga adds a third USB-C port alongside two Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB-A, and a 3.5mm jack.

Port or feature HP Spectre x360 14, cited 2024 comparison Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 9, cited 2024 comparison Practical consequence
Thunderbolt 4 Two Two Suitable for fast storage, displays, and compatible docks
Additional USB-C Not listed in the cited comparison One additional USB-C Yoga offers more flexibility for simultaneous USB-C accessories
USB-A Yes Yes No adapter is needed for at least one traditional USB accessory
3.5mm audio Yes Yes Both can use wired headphones directly
HDMI, SD, wired Ethernet Do not assume built in Do not assume built in Frequent users should budget for a hub or dock

The port details come from the 2024 Spectre-versus-Yoga comparison; verify the manufacturer specification before buying because ports can vary by regional SKU. Check whether each USB-C port supports charging and external display output, and consider port placement when the laptop is in tent or tablet mode.

Which laptop is easier to carry?

Portability cannot be inferred from the shared 14-inch size. Compare the exact laptop weight, charger weight, thickness, edge shape, and comfort when held as a tablet.

A laptop that is light in a backpack may still feel tiring as a tablet because the weight is concentrated in a slab rather than distributed like a conventional tablet. Frequent travelers should weigh the complete carry kit, including the charger, pen, USB-C hub, and sleeve. Students and presenters should also check whether the hinge can be opened and repositioned comfortably on a small desk.

What are the repairability and longevity trade-offs?

Neither product should receive a reliability verdict without long-term failure data. Premium aluminum construction, a rigid hinge, and positive reviews do not prove a lower failure rate.

Longevity question Why it matters
Is memory soldered? Non-upgradeable RAM makes the original memory capacity important for a multi-year purchase.
Can the SSD be replaced? Replaceable storage can extend useful life and simplify recovery after a drive failure.
Can the battery be serviced? Battery replacement difficulty affects long-term ownership cost.
What is covered? Warranty length, accidental-damage options, OLED exclusions, and seller support can matter more than a small specification advantage.
Is the machine new or refurbished? Condition, return period, battery health, seller identity, and parts availability change the risk.

Before purchasing older Spectre inventory, check the warranty and return policy carefully. For OLED models, look for the manufacturer’s treatment of image retention or burn-in. Do not assume a retailer’s “new” label means the product is the manufacturer’s current flagship.

How do the two laptops score for different buyers?

A weighted score is more useful than declaring a winner from CPU specifications alone. A reasonable decision framework assigns 20% to display, 15% to battery, 15% to performance, 15% to convertible experience, 10% to keyboard and touchpad, 10% to webcam and privacy, 5% to audio, 5% to ports and connectivity, and 5% to value and availability.

Criterion Weight What to measure
Display 20% Aspect ratio, OLED quality, brightness, refresh rate, glare, and colour
Battery life 15% Same-test web and video results at comparable settings
Performance 15% CPU, integrated graphics, sustained performance, fan noise, and thermals
Convertible experience 15% Hinge, tablet comfort, pen, tent mode, and stand usability
Keyboard and touchpad 10% Typing feel, layout, clickpad, and accidental input
Webcam and privacy 10% Camera, IR, shutter, microphones, and software controls
Audio 5% Speaker volume, bass, clarity, and distortion
Ports and connectivity 5% USB-C, Thunderbolt or USB4, USB-A, audio, and wireless standard
Value and availability 5% Matched street price, warranty, condition, and included accessories

How should you choose between the HP Spectre and Lenovo Yoga?

Choose the HP Spectre x360 14 if:

  • You spend more time writing, browsing, coding, or working in spreadsheets than watching video.
  • The taller 3:2 display is more valuable to you than a 120Hz OLED panel.
  • A physical webcam shutter and high-resolution IR camera matter for work calls and privacy.
  • You want Wi‐Fi 7 availability in a qualifying configuration and have a compatible router.
  • You can find a new, open-box, or refurbished Spectre at a substantial discount with a trustworthy warranty.
  • You need up to 32GB memory in the available configuration.

Choose the Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 if:

  • You prioritize OLED contrast, HDR media, smooth scrolling, and a 120Hz display.
  • Built-in speakers matter, especially for movies, music, and presentations.
  • You want a polished 360-degree hinge and frequently use tent, stand, or tablet modes.
  • You plan to take handwritten notes or draw and the exact SKU includes a compatible pen.
  • You prefer a current Lenovo flagship convertible, particularly if the Gen 10 Aura Edition is competitively priced and its software features fit your needs.

Choose neither if:

  • You need serious gaming, 3D work, or sustained 4K video production that benefits from a discrete GPU.
  • You require extensive built-in ports such as HDMI, SD, wired Ethernet, and several USB-A ports without a dock.
  • You require upgradeable RAM or maximum battery life at a low price.
  • You want a large tablet that remains comfortable to hold for hours.

What should you check before buying?

  1. Write down the full product number. “Yoga 9i” and “Spectre x360 14” cover several generations and configurations.
  2. Match the processor and memory. Compare Core Ultra tier and 16GB versus 32GB RAM before using a review’s performance result.
  3. Confirm the panel. Check aspect ratio, resolution, OLED status, brightness, colour coverage, refresh rate, and HDR support.
  4. Confirm the pen bundle. A pen can be included with one SKU and optional with another, even within the same product family.
  5. Check the complete carry weight. Include the charger, pen, sleeve, and any USB-C dock.
  6. Check the seller and warranty. Older Spectre stock may have different return terms, battery condition, and support than a current Yoga.
  7. Compare matched prices. Do not compare a 16GB/512GB open-box Spectre with a new 32GB/1TB Yoga and call the cheaper machine better value.
  8. Check alternatives. Compare a current HP OmniBook premium convertible with the Yoga before buying an older Spectre near full price.

What are the best alternatives?

The HP OmniBook Ultra Flip 14 is the most relevant HP alternative for buyers who like the Spectre concept but want HP’s newer premium convertible family. Lenovo’s other current Yoga models may be better value if flagship speakers, OLED specifications, or the newest AI features are not essential. Buyers who need sustained graphics performance should instead consider a conventional premium laptop with a discrete GPU, accepting the loss of tablet modes and possibly some battery life.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The current HP laptop and 2-in-1 range is the appropriate place to check HP’s newer naming and availability rather than assuming the Spectre remains HP’s newest premium convertible. Lenovo’s Yoga 9i Gen 10 Aura Edition page should likewise be checked for the current generation’s exact features and regional configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Lenovo Yoga 9i better than the HP Spectre x360 14?

The Lenovo Yoga 9i is better for OLED entertainment, built-in speakers, and a polished pen-and-tablet experience. The HP Spectre x360 14 is better for a taller productivity display, physical webcam privacy, and selected Wi‐Fi and memory configurations, so the best choice depends on the buyer’s priorities and exact SKU.

Does the HP Spectre x360 14 have a better webcam?

The documented HP Spectre x360 14 14-eu0000 configuration has a 9MP IR camera with a physical shutter, temporal noise reduction, and dual-array microphones. Yoga 9i camera features vary by generation and SKU, so buyers should verify the exact Lenovo configuration.

Does the Lenovo Yoga 9i include a pen?

Pen inclusion varies by Yoga 9i generation, region, and SKU. Lenovo’s older Yoga 9i listing specified an included Precision Pen 2, but buyers should confirm the box contents for the exact Gen 9 or Gen 10 listing before treating the pen as included.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Is the HP Spectre x360 14 still a good buy in 2026?

The HP Spectre x360 14 can still be a good buy when discounted and backed by a reliable warranty, especially for productivity and privacy. Buyers should compare its exact price and condition with HP’s newer OmniBook Ultra Flip 14 and current Lenovo Yoga models rather than paying near-launch pricing for older stock.

Are the Spectre x360 14 and Yoga 9i good for gaming or professional video editing?

Neither convertible should automatically be chosen for serious gaming or sustained professional video production because integrated Intel Arc graphics and thin-convertible cooling impose limits. A conventional laptop with a discrete GPU is usually a better fit for demanding graphics workloads.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Buy the Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 for the more enjoyable all-around media and tablet experience, especially when its OLED panel, sound-bar hinge, and pen bundle are included at a competitive price. Buy the HP Spectre x360 14 for work-first productivity, a taller 3:2 display, physical webcam privacy, and a discounted matched configuration. In 2026, compare the Spectre against current HP OmniBook models and verify every SKU before deciding.
