TechRadar reported on October 6, 2026, that Amazon was selling the HP Smart Tank 5003 for $149.99, down from $189.99, with Prime membership required. The report called it the printer’s lowest-ever price and said the box includes ink it estimates can print up to 6,000 black or color pages. That is an estimated page yield—not a guaranteed three-year supply for every household. Check Amazon’s listing for the current price, stock, and eligibility before buying.
What was the reported Amazon deal?
In its October 6, 2026 deal report, TechRadar listed the Smart Tank 5003 at $149.99, compared with a $189.99 regular price, and said the offer was for Prime subscribers. TechRadar also described $149.99 as the model’s lowest-ever price, with a previous low of $170. The price and price-history figures are the publisher’s report; they have not been independently verified here, and a deal may change or end.
Amazon said its 2026 Prime Big Deal Days event ran October 6–7, giving Prime members 48 hours of deals (Amazon’s event announcement; Amazon Prime Day page). The Smart Tank offer was reported ahead of that event.
What does “three years’ free ink” mean?
TechRadar described the printer as including three years’ free ink and relayed an estimate of up to 6,000 black or color pages from the ink in the box. Read “three years” as the report’s description of the included supply, not as a guaranteed duration: how long the ink lasts depends on how much and what you print. The report does not establish that every user will get three years of use from it.

What the Smart Tank 5003 offers
TechRadar describes the 5003 as a wireless, refillable ink-tank all-in-one for printing, scanning, and copying. Its report gives print speeds of up to 10 pages per minute in black and 5 in color, plus a 100-sheet paper tray. These specifications are reported by TechRadar and were not independently confirmed against HP documentation.
- Print, scan, and copy: A single device for routine documents and color printing.
- Refillable ink tanks: An alternative to replacing conventional cartridges, with the included ink yield described above.
- Manual two-sided printing: The report says it lacks automatic duplex printing.
- No fax or automatic document feeder: These omissions may matter if you regularly handle multi-page scanning or faxing.
Is it a good fit for your printing?
It may suit everyday home use
The reported combination of print, scan, and copy functions, wireless connectivity, and refillable tanks makes the 5003 a plausible choice for families, students, and remote workers printing ordinary documents and occasional color pages. The included ink could reduce the need to buy supplies immediately, though the actual time before a refill depends on usage.

Look elsewhere for heavy workloads
At up to 10 black pages per minute and 5 color pages per minute, with a 100-sheet tray, it may be less convenient for frequent large print runs. The lack of an automatic document feeder and automatic duplexing also means more manual handling for some jobs. TechRadar names the Canon MegaTank G3270 and Epson EcoTank ET-4950 as alternatives, but the available information does not establish a like-for-like comparison of their prices, speeds, paper capacity, ink, or features.

What to check before ordering
- Confirm the Amazon listing is for the HP Smart Tank 5003 and that the price and Prime eligibility still match the offer you expect.
- Read the listing’s included-ink description and do not treat the reported three-year wording as a guaranteed duration or page yield for your own printing.
- Consider whether 100 sheets, the reported speeds, and the lack of automatic duplexing or an automatic document feeder fit your workload.
