The HP OmniBook X Flip 14 is a capable, well-built convertible laptop family, but there is no single specification or price that describes every model. HP’s March 2025 14-fk0000 series includes AMD Ryzen AI processors and a 14-inch IPS option, while independent reviews cover other Intel and AMD configurations with different screens, memory, storage, and test results. Buy by the exact SKU and local price—not by the family name alone.
Which OmniBook X Flip 14 does this review cover?
This is a review of the product family rather than one universal configuration. The exact unit matters: an Intel Core Ultra 5 model with an IPS screen is not the same laptop experience as an AMD Ryzen AI 7 configuration with OLED, or a later high-end Ryzen AI 9 version.
HP’s support page identifies the 14-fk0000 series as released in March 2025. It lists AMD Ryzen AI 7 H 350 and Ryzen AI 5 H 340 processor options, each with a 50-TOPS NPU, and a 14-inch 1920×1200 multitouch IPS panel option. HP warns that hardware varies by country and custom configuration, so those details should not be applied to every OmniBook X Flip 14. HP’s series specifications are a useful reference for that generation, not a complete specification sheet for later models.
Configurations reviewed by publications
| Review context | Tested configuration | What the publication reported |
|---|---|---|
| Tom’s Guide, 2026 | Intel Core Ultra 5 226V, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, IPS | Geekbench 6 scores of 2,559 single-core and 9,940 multi-core; 8 hours 32 minutes in its battery test. These are results for that review unit. Tom’s Guide review |
| PCWorld, 2025 | AMD Ryzen AI 7 350, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 14-inch 2880×1800 OLED, 59Wh battery | PCWorld found capable CPU performance for productivity, weaker integrated graphics than some rivals, and battery life below 11 hours in its test. These are publication findings on this configuration, not guarantees for other models. PCWorld’s 2025 review |
| PCWorld, 2026 | AMD Ryzen AI 9 465, 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD, 1920×1200 60Hz OLED | PCWorld reported a PCMark 10 score of 8,226. Its tested unit did not have the optional 2880×1800, 120Hz OLED; the review lists Radeon 880M graphics, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and a 5MP IR webcam. PCWorld’s 2026 review |
Tom’s Hardware also covers a newer AMD generation with a 360-degree hinge and Wi-Fi 7. Its specifications and pricing belong to that review’s model range, not automatically to the 2025 14-fk0000 series. Tom’s Hardware’s review describes that later context.

What the convertible design is good for
The 360-degree hinge lets the screen fold back for tablet orientation or sit in tent mode, in addition to the standard laptop position. That flexibility is the main reason to choose the Flip over a conventional clamshell. Tom’s Guide praised the durable, premium metal feel of its tested model, and the overall design makes sense for people who regularly switch between typing, touch interaction, and viewing content hands-free.
The trade-off is practical: a convertible hinge adds value only if you use it. If the laptop will stay open on a desk and you rarely touch the display, a clamshell may be a better-value way to spend the same budget. Consider how often you would actually use tablet or tent mode before paying extra for a 2-in-1.
How performance and display vary by model
Across the reviewed configurations, the OmniBook X Flip 14 spans Intel Core Ultra and AMD Ryzen AI processors, IPS and OLED panels, and different memory and storage capacities. That range affects both everyday use and price. A 1920×1200 IPS model is not interchangeable with a high-resolution OLED option, and the processor family alone does not tell you the full performance story.

For office work, web browsing, and typical productivity, PCWorld found its 2025 Ryzen AI 7 350 configuration capable on CPU workloads. Its integrated graphics lagged some rivals, so it is not the strongest choice for graphics-heavy work or gaming. Tom’s Guide’s Intel Core Ultra 5 226V results offer another configuration-specific reference, while PCWorld’s 2026 Ryzen AI 9 465 PCMark result belongs to a higher-end model. Benchmark figures from different publications and configurations should not be treated as a direct, controlled head-to-head comparison.
Check the precise panel description before buying: IPS or OLED, resolution, refresh rate, and touch support. The 2026 PCWorld unit, for example, had a 1920×1200 60Hz OLED, even though a 2880×1800 120Hz OLED was listed as an option. Product-family names and general retailer summaries may omit distinctions that materially change the screen experience.
Battery life is not guaranteed across the family
Published battery figures differ because they cover distinct models and test setups. Tom’s Guide measured 8 hours 32 minutes on its Intel Core Ultra 5 226V, 16GB, 512GB IPS configuration. PCWorld said its 2025 Ryzen AI 7 350, 32GB, 1TB OLED configuration fell short of 11 hours in that publication’s battery test. Neither figure predicts how long another configuration will last in your workload.

If long unplugged sessions are essential, look for a battery result from the exact processor and display configuration you are considering, and note the publication’s test method. Screen type and resolution, brightness, applications, and wireless use can all make a published test result a poor substitute for your own usage pattern.

It can be good value when the exact configuration is attractively priced and you will use the convertible design. It is harder to recommend at a premium if your priority is graphics performance or reliably all-day battery life: WIRED judged its full-price 2025 version insufficient value for some users with those needs. Tom’s Guide’s review context referenced $599, PCWorld’s July 2025 review cited a $1,099 Best Buy starting configuration, and Tom’s Hardware’s 2026 review listed a $1,399.99 starting price and a $2,599.99 tested configuration. WIRED’s 2025 page listed $1,130 at HP and $900 at Best Buy. These are dated snapshots for differing configurations and contexts, not current quotes or comparable prices.
For a fair decision, compare the actual sale price and SKU available to you against alternatives in the same period. Match processor tier, RAM, SSD, display type and resolution, battery evidence, weight, and ports; then decide whether the 360-degree hinge earns its cost. Reviews mention Lenovo Yoga models as rivals, but current equivalent configurations and prices have not been normalized here, so there is no evidence-based blanket verdict that the HP or a Yoga is always the better buy.
Quick Recap
- Consider it if a specific configuration has the screen and memory you want, its local price is competitive, and tablet or tent mode will be useful.
- Look elsewhere if integrated graphics or a dependable all-day battery are your top requirements, unless testing of the exact SKU satisfies them.
- Compare a clamshell if you do not need the folding hinge and want to direct more of your budget toward other specifications.
What to verify before ordering
- Read the full model or SKU on the retailer listing; do not rely on “OmniBook X Flip 14” alone.
- Confirm the processor generation and exact chip, RAM, SSD capacity, panel technology, resolution, refresh rate, and touch support.
- Check the port list, battery capacity if provided, and included accessories for that specific regional configuration.
- Compare the current local price for that exact SKU with same-period alternatives. Historical review prices are not evidence of current inventory or offers.
- Use battery and benchmark results only when the tested processor, display, and configuration are close to the one you plan to buy.
