The HP OmniBook Ultra 14 combines a vivid OLED screen with strong performance in one independently tested Snapdragon X2 Elite configuration. It is not a single, fixed-spec laptop, though: HP lists Snapdragon X2 and Intel versions with differing screens, ports, memory, and storage. The review results below apply to Tom’s Hardware’s tested unit, not every OmniBook Ultra 14.
What the OmniBook Ultra 14 review actually tested
Tom’s Hardware tested a Snapdragon X2 Elite model with a 14-inch 2880 × 1800 OLED display running at 120 Hz and a 70 Wh battery. Its reported benchmarks and measurements describe that review unit. HP also lists Snapdragon X2 Plus and Intel Core Ultra series configurations, so confirm the processor and other specifications for the exact SKU you are considering.
For its tested model, Tom’s Hardware recorded Geekbench 6 scores of 3,942 single-core and 20,075 multi-core. The review unit converted a 4K video to 1080p in HandBrake in 2 minutes 11 seconds. Those results suggest strong CPU performance in the tested workloads; they do not establish how every configuration performs or guarantee the same result in your applications. The tested 120 Hz OLED measured up to 414 nits of brightness and covered 87% of the DCI-P3 color space in Tom’s Hardware’s testing. That combination supports a vivid image and smoother motion than a standard 60 Hz panel. HP’s Snapdragon specifications also list lower-resolution 2K OLED options, so “OLED” alone does not tell you the resolution or refresh rate. Check the full display specification attached to the SKU.

How to interpret the battery claims
Tom’s Hardware measured 13 hours 27 minutes on its 70 Wh review unit in a mixed web browsing, video-streaming, and WebGL test with the display set to 150 nits. HP advertises “up to 44 hours” for a configuration-specific local-video playback test. These are different workloads and test conditions: HP’s maximum is a manufacturer claim, not a prediction of runtime in mixed everyday use. Snapdragon or Intel: choose by software and ports
HP’s support specifications distinguish the Snapdragon-based 14-kg0000 series from the Intel-based 14-kd0000 series. Processor family matters for more than benchmark numbers: applications and peripherals may have different compatibility or feature requirements. Before buying a Snapdragon model, verify that the specific apps and accessories you rely on support its platform. If a required application or device specifies Intel compatibility, confirm support for the exact Snapdragon model rather than assuming it will work identically.

Port support also varies by processor family. HP lists USB4 on Snapdragon specifications and Thunderbolt 4 on its separate Intel specification series. If your workflow depends on a Thunderbolt dock or device, the Intel listing is the one that explicitly specifies Thunderbolt 4; do not treat USB4 and Thunderbolt 4 as interchangeable labels. Check the precise port list for the SKU and accessory combination.
HP’s regional pages should not be treated as equivalent live offers: its US store listing and New Zealand specification page represent different markets, and price, configuration, availability, and promotions can vary. What to check before buying
- Processor: Confirm whether the exact model uses Snapdragon X2 Elite, Snapdragon X2 Plus, or Intel Core Ultra.
- Display: Verify resolution and refresh rate; not every OLED option is the tested 3K, 120 Hz panel.
- Memory and storage: Check the capacities listed for the specific SKU rather than assuming the review unit’s configuration applies.
- Ports: Confirm USB4 or Thunderbolt 4 support against your dock and other peripherals.
- Price and availability: Check the current local listing. The available evidence does not establish a current price that applies across configurations or markets.
Who should consider the HP OmniBook Ultra 14?
The tested Snapdragon X2 Elite configuration is compelling if you want a high-refresh OLED ultraportable and value the strong CPU results reported in the review. It is a less straightforward choice if you need a specific port standard, depend on software whose Snapdragon support you have not confirmed, or are comparing battery claims without matching their test conditions. Make the decision using the exact processor, display, memory, storage, and connectivity details for the configuration sold in your region.
