The reviewed HP OmniBook Ultra 14 is a polished, lightweight Windows laptop with a vivid OLED screen and responsive everyday performance. Its Core Ultra 7 356H configuration is best suited to productivity, calls and media—not demanding gaming—and its 16GB of onboard memory cannot be upgraded. Whether it is a good buy depends on the exact processor, graphics and memory configuration, as well as its price when you shop.
Which HP OmniBook Ultra 14 configuration is this review about?
This assessment covers the Intel configuration described by the review source: an Intel Core Ultra 7 356H processor, integrated Intel Graphics, 16GB of onboard LPDDR5x memory and a 1TB SSD. The reported experience and benchmark results apply to that configuration, not automatically to every laptop carrying the OmniBook Ultra name.
HP’s Intel-family specifications list multiple memory and storage options, and distinguish Intel Graphics on Core Ultra 7 and Ultra 9 configurations from Intel Arc B390 on a Core Ultra X9 option. HP also has a separate OmniBook Ultra series page for Qualcomm Snapdragon-based models. Check the full product number and platform before comparing listings or applying this review to another SKU: HP’s 14-kd0000 specifications and HP’s 14-kg0000 specifications.

A portable, premium-feeling design
The review describes a compact aluminum chassis weighing 1.27kg, with a haptic touchpad and speakers that it regarded favorably. That combination makes the machine appealing for carrying between workspaces and using for routine office tasks, browsing, video calls and entertainment.

A high-spec OLED display
HP lists a 14-inch 3K OLED touchscreen with a 2880 × 1800 resolution, refresh rates up to 120Hz, a 0.2ms response time, 500 nits of SDR brightness, HDR peak brightness up to 1100 nits and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. Those are manufacturer specifications; they are not independent measurements of the reviewed unit. The screen is a strong reason to consider this laptop if sharp text, vivid media and touch input matter to you. See HP’s Intel-family specifications for the stated panel options.
Responsive productivity, with a graphics ceiling
The review reports that ordinary tasks felt responsive, while demanding games performed poorly. That distinction fits the configuration: Intel identifies the Core Ultra 7 356H as a 16-core, 16-thread mobile processor with a maximum turbo frequency of 4.7GHz, 18MB cache and four Xe-cores for integrated Intel Graphics. Intel also lists a 50-TOPS peak rating for the processor’s NPU. These are component specifications, not guarantees of application speed or gaming performance. “Ultra” branding does not mean this configuration has a discrete gaming GPU. Processor details are at Intel’s Core Ultra 7 356H page.
How did it perform in the review’s tests?
The review source reports the following results for its tested system. They are the review’s measurements, not independently reproduced results, and should not be treated as predictions for a different OmniBook Ultra configuration.

The review’s qualitative conclusion is more useful than any single score for most buyers: the laptop felt quick for routine work, but integrated graphics constrained demanding games. The tested figures cannot establish performance for HP’s separate Arc B390 option or its Snapdragon-based models.
What are the main compromises?
Choose memory capacity before you buy
The reviewed machine has 16GB of onboard memory and no upgrade path, according to the review. HP’s Intel-family specifications list onboard 16GB and 32GB options for Ultra 7/9 configurations. If you routinely keep many applications open, work with large creative projects or want more headroom over the laptop’s lifespan, select the capacity you expect to need at purchase rather than counting on a later RAM upgrade.
Gaming and GPU-heavy work need a different configuration
For demanding games or workloads that rely heavily on graphics processing, the reviewed integrated-graphics model is a poor fit. Compare the actual GPU listed for each SKU, not just the OmniBook Ultra family name. HP identifies an Arc B390 option with the Core Ultra X9 in its Intel-family specifications, but this review did not test that version.

Keyboard and hinge observations
The review author found that keyboard backlighting could make the keys harder to distinguish and wanted the hinge to tilt farther. These are subjective observations from the reviewed unit; try the keyboard and screen angle in person if either detail is especially important to your setup.

Ports may call for a hub
The review describes three Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports and a headphone/microphone combo jack, while noting the lack of a broad selection of legacy connections. HP documents Thunderbolt 4 support on the Intel-family page, but port details can vary by regional SKU. Check the listing for your exact model. A USB-C dock or hub is worth considering only if you need connections such as USB-A, HDMI or a card reader.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How long does the battery last?
The review cites HP claims of up to 20 hours 45 minutes of battery life and up to 30 hours 15 minutes of video playback, and cautions that laboratory claims do not predict every buyer’s runtime. Actual battery life depends on workload, display settings and other conditions; verify the claim for the exact regional SKU before purchase. The review also identifies a 70Wh battery in its configuration materials, but the stated maximum runtimes should not be read as typical use results.

Should you buy the HP OmniBook Ultra 14?
Consider the reviewed Core Ultra 7 356H model if you want a lightweight premium Windows laptop for productivity, calls and media, value its OLED touchscreen and are comfortable with 16GB of non-upgradable memory. Look toward a configuration with a higher graphics tier—or another laptop designed for your workload—if demanding games or GPU-heavy creative work are central to your needs.
Before paying, compare the exact SKU’s processor, GPU, onboard RAM, SSD and display, then check its current price and availability in your region. The review page states an MSRP of $1,319, but that figure is not verified as a current price or a universal price across configurations.
