The HP OmniBook Ultra 14 pairs AMD Ryzen AI 300 processors with a sharp 14-inch touchscreen, strong productivity performance and long battery life. It is a compelling ultraportable for everyday work, coding and browsing, but its 60Hz IPS display and integrated graphics are less suited to buyers who prioritize OLED, gaming or GPU-heavy work.
What the HP OmniBook Ultra 14 offers
HP introduced the OmniBook Ultra 14 in 2024 as a consumer AI PC co-engineered with AMD. The 14-fd0000 series combines Ryzen AI 300 processors with integrated Radeon graphics. HP says the NPU can deliver up to 55 TOPS; that is a peak AI-processing capability claim, not a measure of overall laptop speed. HP announced availability beginning in August 2024, with a launch starting price of $1,449.99. That is historical launch pricing, not a current quote. HP’s announcement.

One HP store listing identifies product AA3B5UA#ABA with a Ryzen AI 9 processor, 16GB memory, 1TB SSD and the 2.2K touchscreen. A reviewed configuration was substantially different: PCWorld tested the OmniBook Ultra 14-fd0023dx with a Ryzen AI 9 HX 375, 32GB RAM and a 2TB SSD. Do not assume the review’s performance or configuration describes every SKU.

How fast is it, and what does battery life look like?
In PCWorld’s October 2, 2024 review of the 14-fd0023dx configuration, the laptop scored 7,801 in PCMark 10, 7,582 in Cinebench R20 multi-thread and 3,909 in 3DMark Time Spy. Those are results for the review unit, not guarantees for every processor, memory or software configuration. PCWorld’s video-loop battery test ran for 1,091 minutes—just over 18 hours—on that unit. PCWorld’s review.
HP advertises up to 21 hours of battery life, while its store page lists up to 22 hours. These are manufacturer estimates, and actual runtime varies with workload, settings and configuration. The independent video-loop result is a specific test, not a prediction of how long the laptop will last in every person’s mixed daily use.

Is the display good enough?
The 2240 × 1400 IPS touchscreen offers a useful workspace for documents, browsing and general productivity, with HP specifying up to 400 nits and full sRGB coverage. The reviewed panel was 60Hz. PCWorld considered it good for productivity and browsing, but noted that it is less appealing than OLED and constrained by its brightness and refresh rate. If deep contrast, a high refresh rate or a more vivid display is central to your choice, compare OLED alternatives before buying.
Are its ports enough for your setup?
The selection covers common USB-C and USB-A peripherals, but there is no HDMI or microSD reader. One of the USB-C ports is used for charging, which can leave fewer ports available when the laptop is plugged in. If your desk setup includes a monitor, multiple accessories or card-based media transfer, plan on a USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 docking station or dongle and confirm that it supports the display connections you need.

Which OmniBook Ultra 14 should you choose?
- Pick the Ryzen AI 9 365 or HX 375 based on price and workload: the HX 375 appears in PCWorld’s tested configuration, but the published test results do not establish a direct comparison between the two processor tiers. Pay for a higher tier only if the specific configuration and price make sense for your work.
- Choose memory and storage for the long term: HP lists 16GB or 32GB onboard memory and SSD options from 512GB to 2TB. Because the memory is onboard, select the capacity you expect to need rather than treating it as an easy later upgrade.
- Choose the panel for your priorities: the 2.2K IPS touchscreen is suited to general work; buyers who want OLED or high refresh should consider another model.
- Match graphics to the work: integrated Radeon graphics are suitable for everyday productivity and media, but PCWorld cautions against treating this laptop as ideal for demanding games or GPU-heavy professional applications.
- Check ports, not just the spec headline: account for the missing HDMI and card reader, and for charging using one USB-C port.
Is the HP OmniBook Ultra 14 worth buying?
It is a strong option if you want a premium-feeling 14-inch Windows laptop for office work, coding, browsing, media and local AI experimentation, and value measured productivity performance and long battery life. Consider a different laptop class if you need discrete graphics, a high-refresh OLED screen, built-in HDMI or a card reader. Compare the exact OmniBook Ultra 14 configuration and current price before choosing; HP’s 2024 launch price should not be treated as today’s price.
