The India-specific HP OMEN 16-ap1058AX pairs a Ryzen 9 9955HX with an RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, a 240 Hz 16-inch display and a VALORANT-themed keyboard. It is a strong gaming machine with a distinctive special-edition design, but its 2.47 kg chassis, modest battery observations and high, fluctuating Indian price make it a better fit for desk-first gaming than frequent travel.
What configuration does the India model include?
HP lists this laptop in India as model 16-ap1058AX, product code DL5J7PA#ACJ. Its main components are a 16-core, 32-thread AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX processor, which can reach 5.4 GHz, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU with 8 GB of GDDR7 memory. The supplied memory is 24 GB of DDR5-5600 in a single 1×24 GB module, alongside a 1 TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD. The operating system is Windows 11 Home Single Language.
That 24 GB memory configuration is worth noting when comparing listings: do not assume another OMEN 16 configuration has the same processor, memory or GPU power characteristics just because it shares the family name. HP lists two M.2 SSD slots, but the available reviews do not establish that an upgrade is necessary.
How good is it for gaming?
Independent reviews describe strong CPU and gaming performance. Gadgets 360 reported about 640 fps in VALORANT at 1080p High and 386 fps at 2560×1440 High. Those are that publication’s results under its stated settings, not guaranteed frame rates: game updates, power mode, thermals and other system conditions can change performance. Its review also reported a Cinebench R23 multi-core score of 37,420 and a 3DMark Steel Nomad score of 3,049.

The 1TB SSD provides lightning-fast boot times, rapid game and software loading, and ample space for your games, media, and projects, keeping your workflow efficient and lag-free.
The results support the case for high-refresh competitive play, but they should not be read as an assurance that every game will run at the panel’s maximum refresh rate at native resolution. The RTX 5070 Laptop GPU is paired with a demanding 2560×1600 display, and actual frame rates vary by game and settings. Gadgets 360 found that the Unleashed performance mode unlocked performance while also producing the laptop’s loudest fan noise.
What is the screen like?
HP specifies a 16-inch IPS display with 2560×1600 resolution, a refresh rate up to 240 Hz, 3 ms response time, brightness up to 500 nits and 100% sRGB coverage. The high refresh rate is suited to fast motion and competitive games; the resolution gives more workspace and detail than a standard 1080p panel.

- 【Advanced Cooling System】Equipped with OMEN Tempest Cooling architecture and self-cleaning technology to boost airflow and heat dissipation. Prevent thermal throttling, maintain consistent high performance for extended gaming & creative workloads, and reduce long-term maintenance to protect your hardware.
Gadgets 360’s reviewer described the screen as bright and fluid, with natural colors. The trade-off is IPS contrast: dark scenes do not have the deep blacks associated with OLED, and 91mobiles also listed the lack of an OLED option among its cons. Buyers who prioritize dark-room contrast over refresh rate should weigh that limitation carefully.
How much does the VALORANT Edition change?
The special edition is more than a logo. HP lists a RIOT blue finish with a warm red cover logo, while 91mobiles observed map references and red WASD keys. The keyboard has four-zone RGB lighting, a numeric keypad and 26-key rollover with anti-ghosting. Both 91mobiles and Gadgets 360 describe it as an 8,000 Hz HyperAction keyboard.
Rank #3
- 【AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX Processor】16-core 32-thread CPU with 64MB L3 Cache, 2.4GHz base & 5.3GHz max turbo, handles heavy multitasking, data analysis and creative business tasks with consistent responsive speed.
- 【NVIDIA RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7 Graphics】High-performance discrete GPU accelerates 3D modeling, video editing and AI business workloads, delivers smooth visuals and reliable parallel computing for professional creative & enterprise use.
- 【OMEN TEMPEST COOLING EVOLVED】This upgraded thermal system delivers boosted airflow, faster heat dissipation and lower keyboard temps, ensuring stable sustained performance for long business workflows, enhancing device reliability without thermal throttling.
- 【High‑Caliber Display for Daily Business Usage】This 16‑inch WQXGA IPS panel delivers a 240Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, 500‑nits brightness and 100% sRGB gamut. Anti‑glare and low‑blue‑light features ease eye strain during long‑time document reviewing and color‑sensitive designing.
- 【Fast Memory & Storage】 With 32GB DDR5 RAM, enjoy smooth multitasking, instant app switching, and seamless handling of large files. The 1TB SSD provides lightning-fast boot times, rapid game and software loading, and ample space for your games, media, and projects, keeping your workflow efficient and lag-free.
These are design and input features; the edition’s theme does not change VALORANT itself or guarantee better results in the game. If the themed finish and keyboard are not important to you, the premium is harder to justify on appearance alone.
What are the main compromises?
Weight and carrying
HP lists the chassis at 2.47 kg and 35.75 × 26.9 cm, with thickness of 2.7 cm at the front and 3 cm at the rear. Gadgets 360’s reviewer considered it heavy to carry. The 280 W power adapter adds to the load, so this is not an especially convenient choice for daily commuting.

- 【Bundle】Thunderobot 7 in-1 USB-C Hub — High-speed data transmission and stable expansion.
Battery life
Gadgets 360 reported around 2 hours 45 minutes under its reviewer’s normal-to-heavy use. That is one review observation, not a standardized endurance result or a promise for other workloads. Tom’s Guide reported 90 minutes in its PCMark 10 Gaming test and 2 hours 42 minutes of web surfing, but its tested laptop had a different Ryzen 9 9955HX3D processor and 32 GB of RAM. Those figures should not be treated as measurements of the Indian 16-ap1058AX.
Noise, heat and speakers
Gadgets 360 noted loud fan behavior in Unleashed mode and said the 280 W adapter could get hot. The same reviewer found that the speakers lacked low-end punch and suggested a headset for serious gaming. These are attributed review observations, not controlled measurements across every use case.

What does it cost in India, and is it worth buying?
Prices in the available sources differ and reflect different dates and contexts. HP India displayed ₹2,59,999.01 for this SKU with an “In Stock” status when accessed on 7 October 2026; the store also showed a changing offers banner. Gadgets 360’s review, updated 22 September 2026, stated an India starting price of ₹2,24,999. These are not interchangeable or timeless prices. Check HP’s live listing for the exact 16-ap1058AX configuration, seller, stock and final price before deciding.
At that level, the strongest case is for someone who wants the combination of a high-end Ryzen processor, RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, fast 1600p display and unusually specific VALORANT styling. The case is weaker if you need a lighter laptop, longer unplugged sessions, quieter maximum-performance gaming, OLED contrast or a lower price for an RTX 5070 configuration. 91mobiles scored the exact model 6.9/10, citing its performance, display and themed design as strengths while flagging its expense for a non-Ti RTX 5070.
Gadgets 360 names the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 10, Asus ROG Strix G16 and Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S as competitors, but current Indian configurations and prices for those models are not established here. Compare exact CPU and GPU configurations, panel type and refresh rate, weight, battery evidence, fan noise, keyboard, audio and India warranty terms rather than relying on family names or broad price-performance claims.
