The HP-labeled Intel DC S3500 is a legacy 600GB, 2.5-inch SATA enterprise SSD. Intel’s specifications list SATA compatibility across 6Gb/s, 3Gb/s and 1.5Gb/s links, but the quoted $240 each is not established as a fair or current market price. For a used unit, verify its exact part number, health data, fit and return terms before buying.
What drive does this listing appear to describe?
The product appears to be an HP-labeled Intel DC S3500 600GB SSD. Third-party listings associate the model number SSDSC2BB600G4P with this drive, while an HP part listing identifies 717968-005 as a DC S3500 600GB SATA drive supplied in a tray. These catalog descriptions are useful identifiers, not proof that every listing or physical unit is identical. Check the label on the actual drive and confirm the part number with the seller.
Intel’s DC S3500 product specification includes 600GB among the family’s 2.5-inch capacities. It describes 20nm MLC NAND and SATA Revision 3.0.
What are the Intel DC S3500 600GB specifications?
| Specification | Published detail |
|---|---|
| Capacity and form factor | 600GB; 2.5-inch |
| Memory | 20nm MLC NAND |
| Interface | SATA Revision 3.0; compatible with 6Gb/s, 3Gb/s and 1.5Gb/s interface rates |
| Sequential throughput | Intel’s family specification gives up to 500 MB/s read and 450 MB/s write. Intel’s capacity-specific product brief gives up to 500 MB/s read and 410 MB/s write for the 600GB version. |
| Random 4KB performance | Up to 75,000 read IOPS and 11,500 write IOPS at queue depth 32, per the family specification. |
| Typical sequential latency | 50 microseconds read; 65 microseconds write. |
| Listed features | AES 256-bit encryption, enhanced power-loss data protection, SMART, Native Command Queuing and TRIM. |
These are Intel’s published specifications, not independent benchmark results. Real performance depends on the drive’s condition and the host system; the figures do not establish the performance or health of a particular used unit.
#1 Best Overall
- Capacity: 600 GB
- NAND Flash Memory Type: 20nm multi-level cell (MLC)
- Form Factor: 2.5"
Is $240 each a fair price?
The available listing evidence does not establish a representative current market value. A specialist seller page for SSDSC2BB600G4P displayed an asking price of $241.48 when indexed. A separate marketplace listing showed a used drive at $59.96, marked “Great Condition” by the seller; the result reported six sold and a last update of February 7, 2026. Those are different sellers’ listing details, not a matched comparison or a verified series of completed sale prices. The seller’s condition note also does not verify internal health.
The $240 figure may be close to one seller’s displayed ask, but it is not evidence that the units in question are that seller’s inventory or that $240 is a fair price. Compare the precise part number, SMART data, usage history, whether a tray is included, shipping, warranty and return terms.

What to check before buying a used drive
- Confirm identity: Ask for a clear photo of the label and verify the model and part number, such as SSDSC2BB600G4P or HP 717968-005. Catalog listings can confuse related variants.
- Check physical fit: Confirm that your server or enclosure accepts a 2.5-inch drive and determine whether the correct tray or caddy is included. The cited product information does not confirm fit in a particular server.
- Verify the connection: Check the host’s SATA support and controller configuration. The drive supports SATA link rates of 6Gb/s, 3Gb/s and 1.5Gb/s, but that alone does not establish compatibility with every server or controller.
- Request health information: Ask for current SMART data and available usage or endurance history. The listing descriptions do not establish the health or remaining life of the specific unit.
- Read the terms: Confirm the return window, warranty coverage, shipping cost and how the seller handles a drive that arrives with health or compatibility problems.
Who might consider the DC S3500?
This is a legacy enterprise SATA SSD, so it may suit a system that specifically needs a compatible 2.5-inch SATA drive and can use the capacity and features. Its published power-loss protection and AES encryption may be relevant where those capabilities are part of the system’s requirements. The available specifications do not establish remaining endurance, current reliability, or suitability for a particular workload. For a replacement, compare exact fit, interface, verified health, warranty and total delivered cost rather than capacity alone.
