The HP Envy Photo 7975 is a capable home print-scan-copy all-in-one with a useful automatic document feeder (ADF), a separate photo tray, and good-looking text and document output. Its trade-offs are recurring ink replacement and less convincing color performance: RTINGS found color printing slow, photo color accuracy and gamut disappointing, and scanned detail reduced by image processing. It makes the most sense for home users who value document convenience and occasional snapshots over high-volume or color-critical work.
What the HP Envy Photo 7975 offers
The 7975 is an inkjet printer designed for home use, combining printing, scanning, copying, and photo printing. HP’s US product page identifies the model as product number B63K3A#B1H. Its features include a 35-sheet ADF for multi-page originals and a flatbed scanner for items that are not suited to the feeder.
HP’s rated specifications include print speeds of up to 15 pages per minute in black and 10 pages per minute in color, measured using ISO, laser-comparable methodology. Those are manufacturer ratings, not a guarantee of real-world speed; RTINGS found color document printing slow in its review.
| Feature | HP-listed specification |
|---|---|
| Print, scan, and copy | Yes, with photo printing also supported (HP product and support pages) |
| Paper input | 125-sheet main tray and 15-sheet photo tray (HP support specifications) |
| Paper output | 60-sheet output capacity (HP support specifications) |
| Automatic document feeder | 35 sheets (HP support specifications) |
| Duplex | Automatic two-sided printing; duplex scanning not stated in the cited HP specifications |
| Display | 2.7-inch color capacitive touchscreen (HP support specifications) |
| Connectivity | Dual-band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi and USB 2.0 (HP support specifications) |
| Monthly volume | 300–400 pages recommended; 1,000 pages maximum monthly duty cycle (HP, 2026 support specifications) |
The maximum duty-cycle number is a ceiling, not a recommendation for routine use or a claim that printing at that volume will be economical. HP says the USB cable is not included. Operating-system support can change, so check the current HP support page for your computer’s Windows or macOS version.

How well does it print documents and photos?
Documents
RTINGS describes document output as good and detailed, making the 7975 a reasonable fit for everyday household printing. However, it also found color document printing slow. If most of your pages are color-heavy, speed may matter more than the headline black-and-color ISO ratings.
Photos
The dedicated 15-sheet photo tray lets you keep photo media separate from ordinary paper. HP says it makes it possible to switch between photos and everyday documents without changing paper in the main tray; that is a convenience feature, not evidence of superior print quality. HP lists photo paper options, including 4 x 6-inch matte paper.

- KEY FEATURES – Color print, copy and scan, plus auto 2-sided printing and a 100-sheet input tray
- HP'S MOST INTUITIVE COLOR TOUCHSCREEN – Smoothly navigate your printer with the easy-to-use 2.4" touchscreen

RTINGS found the 7975’s color accuracy and gamut disappointing. That makes it better suited to casual snapshots than work where faithful color, broad color reproduction, or consistent results are essential. The photo tray is useful for convenience, but it does not overcome that quality limitation.
Scanning: useful hardware, imperfect detail
The combination of a flatbed and 35-sheet ADF is valuable for a home office: use the flatbed for books, photos, or delicate originals, and the feeder for a stack of pages. RTINGS found the scanning process could be quick, but reported that aggressive processing made scans look over-processed and caused detail loss. If preserving fine detail is a priority, assess a scan before relying on the printer for archival or image-critical work.

Ink compatibility and replacement costs
For the US product listing, HP specifies HP 64 and HP 64XL cartridges. HP’s estimated page yields are approximately 200 pages for standard black, 165 for standard tri-color, 600 for XL black, and 415 for XL tri-color. These are HP estimates, not guaranteed yields; actual results vary with page content and use. RTINGS also reported low cartridge yields and noted that the tri-color cartridge must be replaced when any one of its colors runs out.
| Cartridge | HP estimated yield |
|---|---|
| HP 64 black | Approximately 200 pages (HP US listing accessed 2026) |
| HP 64 tri-color | Approximately 165 pages (HP US listing accessed 2026) |
| HP 64XL black | Approximately 600 pages (HP US listing accessed 2026) |
| HP 64XL tri-color | Approximately 415 pages (HP US listing accessed 2026) |
XL cartridges have higher stated yields and may reduce how often you replace cartridges, but their actual value depends on current cartridge prices and how much you print. RTINGS notes that the printheads are included in the cartridges. It also flags a general inkjet drawback: nozzles can clog after prolonged periods without printing.

Do not order by printer family name alone. RTINGS identifies the reviewed 7975 as a US/APAC variant using HP 64/64XL, while some European variants use HP 303/303XL. HP’s related Envy Photo 7275 is a different model and lacks the ADF. Check the printer’s exact regional model label and HP’s current compatibility information before buying ink.
Who should buy the HP Envy Photo 7975?
- A good fit: home users who want printing, copying, and scanning in one device, especially those who will use the ADF for multi-page jobs.
- Consider another option: users who print frequently and want fewer cartridge changes, need accurate photo color, or depend on detailed scans.
- Check before choosing: whether the ADF, paper trays, and photo convenience matter more to you than ink replacement frequency and the reported color limitations.
For context, RTINGS’ comparison section says the Brother MFC-J1360DW produces more accurate, wider-gamut photos, scans faster and in more detail, and has substantially higher cartridge yield. Those are review findings, not a current price comparison. RTINGS also compares the Canon PIXMA TR7120 and HP ENVY Inspire 7955e, but model choice should account for your own needs, regional versions, and current pricing.
