The HP Envy 6530e is a capable home all-in-one for occasional printing, scanning and copying, with useful extras such as automatic two-sided printing, a document feeder and mobile fax. TechRadar’s review coverage reports crisp text and especially pleasing glossy-paper photos, but also slow operation and quick cartridge consumption. It makes the most sense for modest home or student workloads—not frequent, high-volume printing—where its photo quality and convenience justify watching the ongoing ink cost.
What the HP Envy 6530e does
This is a two-cartridge inkjet all-in-one: it prints, copies and scans, and supports mobile fax. HP lists dual-band Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, AirPrint and other mobile printing support. A 2.4-inch color capacitive touchscreen handles printer controls.
- Paper handling: 100-sheet input tray and automatic duplex printing.
- Document feeding: a 35-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF), alongside the flatbed scanner.
- Scanning: HP lists optical resolution up to 1200 dpi.
- Photos: HP advertises borderless printing and support for photo media.
These are manufacturer specifications, not independent speed or quality measurements. HP’s product specifications are available on its US support page.

Print quality and speed
TechRadar’s 2026 roundup reports sharp, bold text and vibrant color documents and photos, with glossy-paper photo prints standing out. Its Australian home-printer roundup also describes good output. Those are the publications’ reported impressions; this article does not claim independent hands-on testing.

- Reliable Wireless Connectivity - Enjoy stable and consistent connections with dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz or 5GHz), ensuring smooth printing from anywhere in your home or office
- Scan & Copy Handling - Utilize the device’s integrated scanner for efficient scanning and copying operations
HP rates the printer at up to 10 pages per minute (ppm) in black and 7 ppm in color. Those are manufacturer-listed maximums, not a promise for every document or print mode. TechRadar characterizes the machine as slow in use and better suited to casual home printing or occasional student assignments than day-in, day-out business work. The same review says its 35-sheet ADF is accurate but slow.
Ink costs and cartridge choices
Ink is the central ownership trade-off. The printer uses one black cartridge and one tri-color cartridge. With a combined color cartridge, replacing it may mean replacing the cartridge when one color runs out, even if the others still have ink. TechRadar reports fast cartridge consumption and little ink supplied in the box; it also flags the waste associated with the tri-color design.

Cartridge codes vary by market, so do not assume that a code listed for one country fits a printer bought elsewhere. HP’s Middle East specifications list the following HP 308-family cartridges and approximate yields for the market covered by that page:
| Cartridge listed by HP | Approximate yield |
|---|---|
| HP 308 black (7FP21UE) | 160 pages |
| HP 308 tri-color (7FP20UE) | 120 pages |
| HP 308e EvoMore black (7FP22UE) | 320 pages |
These are HP’s stated approximate yields, not guaranteed page counts; HP says actual yield varies with page content. The higher-yield black cartridge may reduce replacement frequency for black printing, but it does not change the tri-color cartridge’s yield. HP’s regional figures and HP+ conditions appear on its Middle East product specifications. Without current local cartridge prices and a realistic estimate of what you print, a precise cost-per-page comparison would be misleading.

HP+, Instant Ink and third-party cartridges
Before enabling HP+, consider its long-term requirements. HP states: “HP+ requires an HP account, ongoing connection to the internet, and exclusive use of Original HP Ink cartridges for the life of the printer.” That commitment matters if you expect to use third-party ink or prefer not to keep the printer connected.
HP’s UK store listing also describes dynamic security: cartridges must use new or reused HP electronic circuitry, and periodic firmware updates maintain measures that block modified or non-HP circuitry. HP lists the 6530e as Instant Ink eligible, but plan availability, pricing, trial duration and terms depend on the country and can change. Check the current local terms rather than assuming a particular offer applies.

Which cartridges work with your HP Envy 6530e?
There is no safe universal cartridge number to order based only on “6530e.” TechRadar identifies the Envy 6555e as the US counterpart of the 6530e in the UK. HP’s UK and Middle East material lists HP 308 cartridges, while an HP Philippines listing surfaced with HP 68-family supplies. The region and exact printer product number determine compatibility.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Find the printer’s full product number on its label or in its setup information.
- Open HP’s support or store page for your country and search for “Which cartridges work with my HP printer?”
- Match the listed cartridge family and product numbers to both your country and exact device before ordering.
For example, HP 308 listings on a UK or Middle East page do not establish that HP 308 is correct for a 6530e sold in another market.

Who should consider it?
The 6530e is a reasonable fit when you want a single home device for mixed, occasional tasks and value photo output, duplex printing and a document feeder more than speed. The ADF can make multi-page scanning or copying more convenient than feeding sheets individually, though TechRadar reports it works slowly.
It is a weaker match for frequent large print jobs or anyone prioritizing low long-term ink expense. TechRadar points readers seeking long-term savings toward ink-tank alternatives. When comparing options, look beyond the purchase price: weigh expected print volume and ink cost against rated speed, photo and borderless support, ADF capacity, duplex behavior, and any setup or account requirements.
Verdict
The HP Envy 6530e packs useful home-office features into a photo-capable inkjet, and review coverage praises its output—especially glossy photos. Its modest rated speed and reported fast ink consumption make it a better choice for occasional mixed use than for high-volume printing. Check regional cartridge compatibility and HP+ terms before committing, and compare ongoing ink expense with an ink-tank printer if you print often.
