The HP DeskJet 2821e is a compact, entry-level all-in-one for light home printing: it prints, copies and scans, with Wi-Fi and USB connectivity. HP’s specifications list modest print speeds, small paper capacity, manual rather than automatic two-sided printing, and no automatic document feeder. It may suit occasional documents, but frequent printing, multi-page scanning or regular duplex jobs call for a more capable model. Before setup, check the local cartridge listing and understand the ongoing conditions attached to HP+.
What the HP DeskJet 2821e offers
HP describes the 2821e as a thermal inkjet all-in-one. The Philippines specification page for model 588Q2B lists printing, copying and scanning, plus Wi-Fi and USB 2.0. It does not list fax. Supported workflows include the HP app, Apple AirPrint, Chrome OS and Mopria. The same regional page lists Windows 10 and 11 and macOS versions through macOS 15 Sequoia; because compatibility lists can change, check HP’s current setup and user guides for your operating system before buying.
These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. No hands-on assessment is available here for print quality, setup time, noise, reliability, actual ink use or real-world speed.
How fast does it print, and how much can it handle?
HP rates the 588Q2B at up to 7.5 pages per minute in black and 5.5 pages per minute in color. These are HP’s rated maximum speeds, not measured results for typical jobs. HP lists a recommended monthly volume of 50–100 pages. It also lists a maximum monthly duty cycle of 1,000 pages, but that maximum is not a recommended ongoing workload.

- UPC: 198828789662
- Weight: 10.450 lbs
Capacity and handling are modest: HP lists a 60-sheet input tray and a 25-sheet output tray. There is no automatic document feeder, so scanning or copying a multi-page original means handling the pages individually. Duplex printing is supported manually through the driver, rather than automatically; you will need to turn and refeed the paper for the second side. HP also specifies no borderless printing.

Cartridge compatibility is regional, so do not assume the same cartridge number applies to every 2821e sold worldwide. For the Philippines 588Q2B listing, HP specifies HP 305 and HP 305XL cartridges. HP’s Bangladesh specification listing, by contrast, identifies HP 67 setup cartridges for that regional listing. What HP+ means before setup
The 2821e is HP+ enabled. HP says choosing HP+ during setup requires an HP account, an ongoing internet connection and exclusive use of Original HP Ink cartridges for the life of the printer. Those are conditions of choosing HP+, as described on HP’s Ireland product page; review the local terms before making that setup choice. An internet connection is therefore an ongoing requirement for HP+ specifically, not a claim that every basic printing workflow on the printer always requires internet.
HP also describes dynamic security as a measure intended to block cartridges that use modified or non-HP electronic circuitry. HP says reused HP electronic circuitry enables the use of reused, remanufactured and refilled cartridges. Check the local terms and cartridge compatibility if cartridge choice is important to you. HP’s product details are at HP Ireland’s DeskJet 2821e page.

Who should consider the DeskJet 2821e?
It may fit occasional home use
Consider it if your workload is light, you want printing, copying and scanning in one compact device, and Wi-Fi or USB connection covers your setup. Its recommended monthly volume of 50–100 pages is a more useful guide to intended routine use than the 1,000-page maximum duty cycle.
Look elsewhere if your workflow is demanding
Frequent multi-page scanning or copying is less convenient without an automatic document feeder. Regular two-sided jobs require manual page handling, and the small trays mean more frequent paper replenishment than a higher-capacity printer. It also is not suited to borderless photo printing, according to HP’s specifications.
Verdict: is the HP DeskJet 2821e worth buying?
The DeskJet 2821e is worth considering as a basic printer for occasional home documents and simple scanning or copying, provided its regional cartridge options and HP+ terms suit you. Its modest rated speeds and limited paper handling make it a poor match for high-volume work or workflows that depend on automatic duplexing or batch scanning. Compare local ink availability and operating-system support before purchase, and weigh the cost of supplies against the price of the printer.
