How WoW: Forever PvP progression works
Blizzard describes the design as a way to simplify the original Honor System while keeping it “Approachable and Familiar.” The announced system has two distinct progression elements: Honor and Rank Points. Blizzard’s announcement says Honor is earned through PvP participation, while Rank Points come from specific activities, including battlegrounds and certain quests.
Blizzard says it aims to make Honor acquisition rates more consistent. That is a stated design goal, not a measured result or a guarantee that every activity awards the same amount. The announcement does not state the weekly Rank Point cap amount, so the exact limit cannot be quantified from the published details cited here.

What the weekly tasks do
Each season includes a journey with weekly tasks. Completing those tasks grants Honor and Rank Points, providing an additional route to progress alongside activities such as battlegrounds and eligible quests. The announcement does not specify the total number of weekly tasks or their individual rewards.

Three tasks each season also grant a Legacy Point. Blizzard says Legacy System tasks remain available in future seasons, so a player who misses a particular week can still complete those tasks later. This persistence applies to the Legacy-related tasks described by Blizzard; it does not mean that the weekly Rank Point cap disappears or that every seasonal task is necessarily carried forward.
Does the system reduce the grind?
The announcement changes several parts of the progression experience, but it does not establish how players will experience the workload in practice. Honor acquisition is intended to be more consistent, task completion adds another way to earn Honor and Rank Points, and persistent Legacy tasks soften the consequence of missing a specific week. Against that, Rank Point progress remains capped weekly, and the tasks create a recurring weekly cadence.

GamesRadar+ framed that cadence as controversial, quoting anonymous comments such as “Please don’t do the weeklies thing” and complaints about “weekly checkboxes” that feel necessary to complete.
