Use Apple’s built-in Files app to create or open ZIP archives on an iPhone or iPad. To zip one item, touch and hold it and tap Compress. To bundle several items, select them first, then choose Compress. To unzip, tap the ZIP file or touch and hold it and choose Uncompress.
How to zip one file or folder

Open Files and browse to the file or folder you want to compress. It can be in a location such as On My iPhone, On My iPad, or iCloud Drive.

Touch and hold the item until its context menu appears.

Tap Compress. Files creates a ZIP in the same folder, using the selected file or folder’s name.

Apple documents this method for Files on iPhone and iPad. Menu placement may vary by device and operating-system version; use the labels shown on your screen. Apple’s Files organizing guide and its ZIP instructions describe the workflow.
How to zip several items together

In Files, open the folder containing the items.

Enter selection mode. On iPhone, Apple’s guide describes tapping the More button and choosing Select; on iPad, it describes tapping Select.

Tap each file or folder you want included.

Tap the More button, then tap Compress.
Files creates Archive.zip in the same folder as the selected items. To give it a more descriptive name, touch and hold the ZIP, tap Rename, and enter the name you want. See Apple’s iPhone and iPad ZIP instructions for the documented selection paths.

Open the new folder to access the extracted files. If you want to change its name, touch and hold the folder and tap Rename.
You can also touch and hold the archive and tap Uncompress. Apple documents this contextual-menu option in its guide to organizing files in Files. Depending on your device and system version, the menu may differ; tapping the archive is the straightforward alternative described in Apple’s ZIP instructions.

How to share a ZIP from Files
After creating the archive, touch and hold it, tap Share, then choose an available sending option. Apple lists AirDrop, Messages, and Mail as examples. Its sharing instructions recommend compressing a file first if you want to send it as a ZIP. Apple’s Files sharing guide has the steps.
