In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Free-for-All, every other Operator is an opponent. In a standard public match, the first player to reach the score limit—usually 30—wins; if time runs out first, the player with the highest score wins. Stay mobile, use radar information carefully, and avoid turning every encounter into a fight to the death.
How Free-for-All works in Modern Warfare III
Free-for-All is a solo elimination mode: there are no teams or shared team objectives. Every Operator you encounter is competing against you. Activision’s official Free-for-All guide describes the first player to reach the score limit as ending the game and says the top three players place. In public matches, the score limit is usually 30, but featured playlists or custom rules may differ.

Respawns are unlimited, so one death does not remove you from the match. It can still cost momentum and interrupt progress toward killstreaks. Treat a risky fight as a choice about position and tempo, not as a free attempt with no consequences.
How do you win Free-for-All in Modern Warfare III?
Keep moving and choose engagements
Activision recommends staying active rather than camping. Movement helps you find opponents and avoid becoming an easy target for someone who has learned your position. Look for moments when two opponents are already fighting: they may be distracted, giving you a chance to engage without walking into a settled crossfire.

Do not pursue every opponent into a bad angle. If a fight is going against you, retreat and reposition. The official guide also suggests firing before falling back to draw an opponent toward a more favorable sightline; treat that as a situational tactic, not a guaranteed way to control a fight.
Use information, but do not over-trust it
A UAV can help reveal opponents and guide your next move. However, stealth-focused enemy loadouts may avoid detection, so combine map information with what you can see and hear. A UAV is useful information, not a complete picture of the lobby.

- ADAPT OR DIE IN A FIGHT AGAINST THE ULTIMATE THREAT
- Combat means making choices — different loadouts, different paths through the mission. Combat missions that provide more player choice. There is no one-size-fits-all solution – it is your choice whether to take the stealthy approach or go loud taking on any and all foes.
- One of the greatest collections of Multiplayer maps ever. Launching with new Ground War maps boasting innovative play spaces and the epic return and evolution of the popular War Mode
After you are eliminated, review the kill cam to learn where the attacker was and which angle they used. Activision also suggests Tactical Insertion as a way to choose a next spawn location. These are recommendations from the official guide, not independently tested guarantees.

Make close fights simpler
Activision suggests switching to a handgun instead of reloading during a close fight. That can be useful when an opponent is close and a reload would leave you exposed, but whether it makes sense depends on your loadout, distance, and situation.

What happens to radar when you fire?
According to the official guide, firing makes an Operator momentarily visible on the minimap and Tac Map. A Suppressor attachment keeps the shooter off the radar while firing, giving up some information exposure in exchange for concealment. The guide does not establish a best weapon or best-in-slot attachment, so choose based on whether you value hiding your position or another loadout benefit.
Even when a Suppressor is in use, do not assume every opponent will appear on your map: stealth-focused loadouts can prevent detection. Keep using visual and audio cues as well as the radar.

Where can you play Modern Warfare III?
Activision’s current product page lists Windows, Xbox, and PlayStation, and states that an internet connection and Activision account are required. Platform and edition details can vary. Activision’s 2023 edition announcement documented physical console editions: PS4 as a Cross-Gen Bundle including the PS5 version, a PS5 edition without the PS4 version, and Xbox Series X|S / Xbox One as a Cross-Gen Bundle. It said a physical PC edition was not available at that time; that historical statement does not establish current retailer stock.
