To whiten teeth in Lightroom, make a local adjustment: on desktop, use Masking > Select People and choose Teeth; on mobile, try Actions > Retouch > Teeth. Refine the selection and keep the adjustment subtle so teeth look brighter without losing their natural detail.

Open the portrait and select Masking.

Choose Select People, select the person, then choose the Teeth feature.

Check the mask overlay around the teeth. Use Add or Subtract to correct areas the selection missed or included by mistake.

Adjust the selected area modestly. Exposure can brighten the teeth; Saturation can reduce color intensity. Make small changes and check the portrait at normal viewing size rather than aiming for a universal slider value.
Adobe’s desktop Masking documentation says you can select specific parts of a person, including teeth, and adjust them locally. Because the adjustment is masked, it affects the selected teeth rather than brightening the entire portrait.
If Select People does not work well
Create a Brush mask instead. Zoom in and paint over the teeth, then subtract or erase any spill onto lips or gums before adjusting. Brush controls include Size, Feather, Flow, and Density; use them to make a controlled selection rather than painting broadly. Adobe explains the brush controls in its Brush tool guide.

Open a photo containing people and choose Actions > Retouch.

Select the person if prompted, then choose Teeth.

Adjust the Teeth slider until the result looks natural.

The Teeth option is not guaranteed to appear for every photo: Adobe says the available retouch features depend on what is detected in the image or selected person. See Adobe’s Lightroom mobile retouch guide for the feature and workflow.
When the mobile result needs more control
Use a manual mask and brush selection, zooming in to work around the teeth. Remove mask areas that spill onto lips or gums before making the adjustment. Adobe’s mobile masking guide covers selection and erasing; its local adjustment controls guide describes the available adjustments.
What about Lightroom Classic?
The named Teeth Whitening effect belongs to an older Lightroom Classic Adjustment Brush workflow. Adobe’s Classic local-adjustment documentation warns that the described workflow no longer applies starting with Lightroom Classic 11.0. For current Classic versions, use Masking and local adjustment controls rather than relying on that legacy preset route.

Correct the mask before increasing the effect, especially along the lip line and between teeth.

Use small changes and judge them at normal viewing size. The right amount depends on the original lighting, exposure, and tooth color; Adobe does not prescribe a universal slider setting.

Avoid turning teeth into uniform white patches. Preserve visible differences and detail between teeth so the edit remains consistent with the portrait.
