To watch Netflix on DISH, open the Netflix app on an internet-connected, supported receiver and sign in with your Netflix account. On many receivers, press Menu, choose Apps, select Netflix, then press OK. You may also find Netflix with the blue Apps button or on Channel 302; available shortcuts vary by receiver.
How do I get Netflix on my DISH receiver?
- Connect the receiver to the internet. DISH says its Netflix service requires an internet-connected Hopper or Wally. Check your receiver’s network settings if it is offline.
- Open Netflix. Press Menu, select Apps, highlight Netflix, and press OK. Depending on the receiver, you can instead press the blue Apps button or go to Channel 302.
- Sign in. Choose Sign In and enter the email address and password for your Netflix account. If you do not have a membership, follow Netflix’s sign-up prompts or create one online.
- Select a profile and start watching.
For Hopper receivers, DISH documents another route: press Menu or press Home twice, choose Netflix, sign in, and select a profile. Button labels and navigation can differ by model.

Which DISH receivers support Netflix?
DISH’s general Hopper support instructions list Netflix access on Hopper 3, Hopper with Sling, Hopper Duo, Wally, and linked Joey receivers, but exclude Wireless Joey. Do not assume every receiver in a product family is compatible.

It lists Hopper with Sling, Joey 1, Joey 2, and Wireless Joey 1 as lacking the live-TV/no-ad version, and Hopper 1 and Super Joey as having no Netflix app. Those qualifications concern live-event support; for ordinary Netflix access on a model not covered by DISH’s general instructions, confirm compatibility with DISH.

If Netflix is missing from the app list, identify the receiver before troubleshooting further. DISH’s live-event guidance says to press Home twice and look for Model Name. Then check the support information for that exact model.
Can I link Netflix billing to a DISH package?
Opening Netflix on a DISH receiver does not by itself mean your Netflix subscription is billed through DISH. Netflix says customers with an eligible DISH package can activate through an email or text message link, an activation banner in the DISH account summary, or prompts in the receiver’s Netflix app. During activation, you can link an existing Netflix account or create a new one.
DISH says you do not need to cancel an existing Netflix account before linking it to an eligible package; after linking is complete, billing through the previous payment method stops. There is an important exception to check: Netflix says customers billed by Apple must cancel through Apple after linking, or Apple may continue charging them. What internet and equipment do I need for 4K or HDR?
These are extra conditions for enhanced picture quality, not requirements for ordinary Netflix sign-in.
Netflix Ultra HD (4K)
- A Netflix plan that supports 4K Ultra HD.
- A 4K TV made in 2014 or later that supports 60 Hz.
- An HDMI connection that supports HDCP 2.2 or later.
- A steady internet speed of at least 15 Mbps.
- Netflix playback quality set to High or Auto.
Netflix HDR
- A Netflix plan that supports HDR, plus an HDR-capable streaming device and TV.
- A supported HDMI connection and steady internet speed of at least 15 Mbps.
- Netflix playback settings set to High.
For DISH equipment, Netflix lists Hopper Plus, Joey 4 (MoCA), and Wireless Joey 4 for HDR. Requirements can depend on the TV, connection, plan, and receiver working together. See Netflix’s DISH device and picture-quality information for details.

Will Netflix use my DISH internet data?
Yes. Netflix says streaming by satellite customers counts toward their monthly broadband quota. Watching through the DISH receiver still uses your internet connection.
