The cheapest way to watch more in 2026 is usually not one all-in-one subscription. Streaming catalogs and sports rights are split across services, so start with the shows, movies, and live sports you actually plan to watch, then subscribe only to the services or bundles that cover them. Rotate monthly subscriptions, choose the least expensive tier that meets your needs, and use free ad-supported services to fill gaps.
Why one subscription cannot reliably cover everything
Streaming rights are spread across separate catalogs, and no single service or bundle is established here as a source for every title. Even a bundle may keep its services in separate apps: Disney says its bundled services retain separate apps, and some Hulu content is available only in Hulu’s app. Check where each must-watch title is available before choosing a plan.
Keep live-TV replacement packages separate from on-demand subscriptions. Services such as YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV are distinct from ordinary on-demand catalogs, so include them only if you need their live-TV offering.

Build your plan around what you will watch
- Make a short list. Write down the shows, movies, and live sports your household expects to watch in the next billing cycle. Do not pay month after month for a title you might watch someday.
- Find the services that carry those items. Check the current catalog and sports rights for each title. Availability can vary, so verify the relevant service before subscribing.
- Compare full recurring prices. If a bundle appears to replace subscriptions you already pay for, compare its standard renewal price with the actual standalone prices on your bill. Do not treat a temporary introductory rate as the ongoing cost.
- Choose the least expensive suitable tier. Check whether ads, picture quality, downloads, and simultaneous streams meet your needs. Pay for higher features only when someone in the household will use them.
- Set a rotation. Subscribe for the viewing window, then change plans or cancel when the shows or sports you wanted are no longer a priority. Check when cancellation takes effect and note the next billing date.
- Check existing benefits. Before adding a service, see whether a phone, internet, retail, or other membership already includes it. Confirm your eligibility, how long the benefit lasts, and what the renewal will cost; availability is not universal.
Compare representative U.S. prices and bundles
The following are official U.S. monthly prices checked or effective in 2026, not an exhaustive market-wide price list. Promotional rates are temporary; use standard rates when estimating long-term costs.

Peacock’s prices above took effect August 18, 2026 for new and returning subscribers; existing subscribers transitioned on a billing date on or after September 17, 2026. Disney says its two-service bundle can be canceled, with cancellation effective at the end of the applicable billing term, and that the three-service bundle has no annual subscription.

Decide whether a bundle actually saves you money
A bundle is useful when it replaces services you would otherwise keep paying for. Compare its standard monthly renewal price with the standalone plans you would actually choose—not with the cost of tiers or services you would not buy. Disney’s advertised savings are comparisons against the services’ monthly retail prices; your personal savings depend on your existing plans and the current offer terms.
Bundles do not necessarily combine catalogs into one app. Disney says its services remain in separate apps, and some Hulu content is available only in Hulu’s app. Consider both the price and the way you will access the included content.

Use tiers and free services to trim the bill
Choose features you will use
Ads can lower a monthly bill, but tiers may differ in catalog access or viewing features. For example, Netflix lists 1080p and two simultaneous devices for both its ad-supported and Standard plans, while Premium lists 4K/HDR and four simultaneous devices. Peacock Select costs less than its higher tiers but excludes sports, movies, and Peacock Originals. Choose based on the titles and features your household needs, not just the lowest advertised price.
Fill gaps with free ad-supported services
Tubi and Pluto TV are examples of free ad-supported services identified by a U.S. House committee report. They can add viewing options without another paid subscription, but they are not interchangeable with every paid catalog or a live-TV package.

Make rotation and cancellation part of the routine
Monthly billing makes it practical to subscribe around a specific viewing window rather than keep every service active year-round. Peacock’s official plan page says, “Pick a Plan. Cancel Anytime.” Netflix also confirms monthly billing and the ability to change or cancel a plan. Before cancelling, check the service’s terms for when access ends and whether another billing date is approaching.
Streaming costs deserve regular review: a December 2025 U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation report said costs rose 13% year over year in 2025. The same report cited an external consumer report’s estimate of $69 per month in average streaming spend; that figure is an estimate from the cited external report, not a committee survey finding. These figures describe broader spending, not what an individual household should expect to pay.

Check prices and terms before subscribing
Prices and offers can change. Tom’s Guide’s broad 2026 price roundup was last updated August 20, 2026, while Peacock’s official notice reflects its later price change. Use comparison roundups to identify services, but confirm volatile prices and terms with the service itself before paying.
If your television lacks the apps you need, a streaming device may provide access to them; it does not include paid catalogs or lower subscription prices. A new device is not necessary if your current television already supports the apps you plan to use.
