Open the Apple TV app on Apple Vision Pro, tap Vision, and choose a title marked Apple Immersive. You can also use Search → Apple Immersive Video. For stereoscopic films, choose 3D movies instead. A title’s How to Watch panel tells you whether it is included, requires a subscription, or must be rented or purchased. Supported titles can be downloaded by pinching and holding the title, then tapping Download; download support is title-specific.
Understand the two ways to watch immersive content
Apple Vision Pro presents two related but different video catalogs in Apple TV:

Apple Vision Pro supports 2D, 3D and fully immersive video, but the labels in Apple TV identify which experience a particular title provides. The word “immersive” does not mean that every 3D movie is an Apple Immersive Video title.

What you need before starting
- An Apple Vision Pro with the Apple TV app available and signed in to the Apple Account you use for media purchases or subscriptions.
- A title that is offered in your country or region. Apple warns that content and features vary by country and region, so another market’s catalog is not a reliable indicator of yours.
- For streaming, a suitable internet connection. For offline playback, the title must expose a Download command; not every Apple Immersive Video or 3D movie can be downloaded.
- For a rental or purchase, an accepted payment method and any subscription required by the title’s How to Watch section.
No special accessory, physical media, replacement part or consumable is required by Apple’s viewing instructions. The workflow takes place in Apple TV on the headset.
Watch Apple Immersive Video step by step
- Open the Apple TV app on Apple Vision Pro.
- Tap Vision in the tab bar.
- Browse for a title carrying the Apple Immersive label and select it.
- Read the title page, including How to Watch, to confirm whether it is included or needs another form of access.
- Start playback. If the title is eligible for offline viewing, pinch and hold its artwork and tap Download before you leave a connection.
There is a second route when you know you want this format: tap Search, then choose Apple Immersive Video. This takes you directly to Apple’s immersive-video collection rather than the general movie catalog.
What Apple Immersive Video means technically
Apple describes Apple Immersive Video as 180-degree 8K recordings with Spatial Audio. That is Apple’s format description, not a guarantee that every video viewed on Vision Pro uses those specifications. Other content in Apple TV can be ordinary 2D, stereoscopic 3D or another supported format.
Examples of Apple Immersive titles
Apple’s US App Store editorial collection highlights Elevated, Boundless, Wild Life and Bono: Stories of Surrender (Immersive). These examples cover travel, nature and music-oriented programming, so the collection is not limited to one genre. The storefront page reported more than 300 3D films when observed in 2026; that is an Apple catalog claim for the US storefront, not an independently verified worldwide count, and the number can change as titles are added or removed.
Watch a 3D movie step by step
- Open Apple TV on Vision Pro.
- From Vision or Search, select 3D movies.
- Choose a film and inspect its details page.
- Scroll to How to Watch. Follow the listed option to play, rent or buy the 3D version.
- Begin playback and choose Play in 3D when prompted or shown in the movie’s playback choices.
Apple says viewers can switch between 2D and 3D from the movie details or playback selection. The option appears only for titles that have a supported 3D presentation.
When you do not have to buy the movie again
If you previously purchased a movie in Apple TV and that same movie is now available in 3D, Apple says you can watch the 3D version without an additional charge. This applies to eligible Apple TV purchases; it should not be generalized to purchases from another store, rentals, or titles that do not offer a 3D version. Check the individual title page for the current entitlement.
Check access, subscriptions, rentals and purchases
There is no single price rule for immersive films. Apple TV can present free programming, subscription content, rentals and purchases, and the available choice is title-specific. Select a title and read How to Watch before assuming that a preview or catalog listing means full access.

- Included or free: The title page lets you start it without a separate transaction when your account and region qualify.
- Subscription: The page identifies the service or channel required. A subscription may be needed even when the title is visible in search.
- Rental: Choose the rental option and observe the rental period and playback rules shown by Apple before confirming.
- Purchase: Buy the title when that option is offered. A previous eligible Apple TV purchase may unlock its 3D edition at no extra charge, as described above.
Third-party service terms, catalog windows and availability can change. The title page, rather than a general list, is the authoritative place to verify your account’s current options.
Download a title for offline viewing
- In Apple TV, locate an Apple Immersive Video or 3D movie that you are entitled to watch.
- Pinch and hold the title’s artwork.
- Tap Download.
- Wait for the download to finish while connected. The title should then be available from the app’s offline or downloaded-content area when the network is unavailable.
If Download does not appear, Apple does not support offline saving for that title, account or region at that time. Do not treat the absence of the command as an error that can be fixed with a different gesture. Streaming availability does not imply download availability.
Practical checks before a trip
- Open the title page and confirm that the download has actually completed before disconnecting.
- Verify that the downloaded item remains listed after you leave Wi-Fi or enable another offline condition.
- Download only titles you are currently entitled to watch; a subscription or rental can expire even if the file is stored locally.
- Keep enough available storage on Vision Pro for the selected title. Apple’s guide does not publish a universal size or duration limit, so the app’s behavior for the individual title is the useful test.
Find the right catalog quickly
Use Vision for browsing
The Vision tab is the broadest starting point. It can surface Apple Immersive Video and 3D movies in separate areas, along with other Apple TV programming. Look for the exact Apple Immersive label when you want a fully immersive capture rather than a conventional film presented in stereoscopic 3D.
Use Search when you know the format
Search exposes dedicated choices for Apple Immersive Video and 3D movies. Choosing one of those categories avoids confusing a normal 2D result with the format you intended to watch.

Artwork and editorial collections are discovery tools. The title page confirms the format, the available version, the access method and whether Download is offered. Recheck it immediately before watching because catalogs and rights can change.
What is currently known about the catalog
Apple’s US App Store editorial page is a useful snapshot rather than a permanent catalog. It names the examples above and reported more than 300 3D films in 2026. That figure is specific to Apple’s US storefront and the date observed; it should not be presented as a guaranteed global total.
Apple’s September 2025 Newsroom announcement said Tour De Force from CANAL+ and MotoGP was then available for free in the Apple TV app on Vision Pro. The same announcement said Journey to Antarctica to Find Emperor Penguins would become available in spring 2026. Those statements describe the announcement’s timing, not guaranteed availability today or in every region.

For mainland China, that announcement named Migu Video and Tencent Video as apps through which users could access selected Apple Immersive titles. It does not establish the current catalog, the availability of every title, or access in other countries.

Apple explicitly cautions that features and content differ by country and region. A title listed in Apple’s US editorial collection may be absent elsewhere, have a different access method, or appear in a different app. Check the Vision tab and the title page while signed in to the account and storefront you actually use.
Apple’s current support procedure is located in a visionOS 27 guide path. If your labels differ after a software update, look for the same concepts—Vision, Search, Apple Immersive Video, 3D movies and How to Watch—rather than assuming the catalog has disappeared.
Troubleshoot the most common problems
You cannot find Apple Immersive Video
- Open Apple TV rather than another video app.
- Try both paths: Vision and Search → Apple Immersive Video.
- Confirm that the Apple Account and region are supported; Apple’s catalog is not identical worldwide.
- Search for a known title such as Elevated, Boundless or Wild Life, while remembering that editorial examples can change.
A film plays in 2D instead of 3D
- Return to the title page and make sure you selected 3D movies, not a standard movie result.
- Check whether the title offers a 3D edition and whether Play in 3D appears in the playback choices.
- If you own the film, verify that the purchase is an eligible Apple TV purchase; ownership in another store does not establish the same entitlement.
The title asks you to pay
- Read How to Watch for the exact requirement: subscription, rental or purchase.
- Do not infer access from a trailer, editorial placement or the existence of a listing.
- If you expected a previous purchase to unlock 3D, confirm that the same title is marked as available in 3D and that the purchase was made through Apple TV.
There is no Download button
Apple does not make every title downloadable. If the pinch-and-hold menu lacks Download, use streaming or choose another title that exposes the command. The limitation may be tied to the title, rights or region rather than your headset.
A title mentioned in an announcement is missing
Announcements are dated. Availability can change after release, and a title may launch in selected regions or through a named partner app. Search Apple TV in your region and inspect the current title page instead of relying on the original announcement.

A reliable first-watch routine
Start while connected to the internet and signed in to the Apple Account that holds your subscriptions and purchases. Open Apple TV, enter Vision, and decide whether you want the Apple Immersive label or the separate 3D movies category. This prevents a common mistake: opening a regular 2D listing that happens to share a title with a 3D edition.
Before pressing play, pause on the title page long enough to read How to Watch. Confirm the format, the version you are selecting, and the exact access condition. A listing can be visible because it is editorially promoted even when your account still needs a subscription, rental or purchase. If you already bought the film through Apple TV, look for the 3D entitlement rather than assuming every storefront purchase transfers.

For a first immersive presentation, allow the title to load completely and use the playback selection shown by Apple. Apple’s format description refers to a 180-degree view and Spatial Audio, while a 3D movie is a stereoscopic presentation. Treat those as different viewing experiences even when both are displayed inside the headset.
Cost, ownership and entitlement checks
There is no universal immersive-film price or single subscription that unlocks every item. The relevant cost is the option displayed for the particular title in your region. Free availability, an existing subscription, a rental and a purchase are all possible, and the terms can change as rights change.

- Do not assume that a 3D version costs extra when you bought the same eligible film through Apple TV; Apple says qualifying purchases can include 3D at no additional charge.
- Do not assume a purchase made in another store creates the same Apple TV entitlement.
- Check the title page again if you return later, because the available provider, rental, purchase or subscription can change.
Apple’s instructions do not require a separate accessory, physical disc, replacement part or consumable. The only directly relevant device is the Apple Vision Pro headset itself; the viewing workflow is handled in its Apple TV app.

The pinch-and-hold gesture is a quick eligibility test. If the menu includes Download, the title supports saving for offline use under the conditions shown by Apple. If it does not, there is no alternate gesture that unlocks the feature. Rights, title policy and regional availability can all affect the control.
Download before travel, wait for completion, and open the downloaded item while still connected so you know it is present. Local storage does not override entitlement rules: a subscription or rental can expire even when a file remains on the headset. Apple does not publish one storage size or duration limit that applies to every title, so the title’s own behavior and the available headset storage are the practical constraints.
What can change over time
Catalog counts, labels, partner apps and release dates are moving targets. Apple’s US App Store page reported more than 300 3D films when observed in 2026, but that is a storefront-specific claim rather than a permanent worldwide total. Apple’s September 2025 announcement described Tour De Force as then free in Apple TV on Vision Pro and placed Journey to Antarctica to Find Emperor Penguins in a spring 2026 release window; neither statement guarantees availability in every region today.

The same announcement named Migu Video and Tencent Video for selected Apple Immersive titles in mainland China. That is a distribution example, not proof that every Apple title is available through those apps or that the arrangement applies elsewhere. When a title is missing, check your local Apple TV app and its current details page rather than relying on an older announcement or a screenshot.
